Dear All, 

With great pleasure I introduce you to the Department of Electronics and 


Telecommunication Engineering of Government Polytechnic Pune. The 
department nurtures and moulds the students to enter in the fast changing 
pragmatic world yet maintaining the sensitivity in them. 

The Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, established 


in 1967, is one of the most dynamic departments of Govt. Polytechnic Pune. The 
department has consistently maintained an exemplary academic and research 
record. I am really elated to tell that the department stands on the strength of 
experienced and well qualified faculty who are very dedicated to teaching and 
also involved in up-gradation of knowledge. Their research experience will help 
to cultivate the future of our students. 
With great demand in industry and great placement opportunities, the 
department stands tall and proud. Our students are not only academically 
sound and disciplined but they also organize various events like ETESA. 
I invite you to the Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Department. 
My team is confident that your stint with GPP will definitely make you outshine 
with a successful and accomplished career.

Editorial 

It is a matter of great pride to present 1st issue of “e- BOARD Newsletter of Dept. 
of E&Tc, Government Polytechnic, Pune” in the context of NBA accreditation of 
courses available with the Institute. As you know, e-Newsletter has been 
magnanimous creation of our institute and it is the result of efforts of all active 
the members of editorial board, concerned authorities and Students, who 
nourished this ‘thought-seed’, now blossomed as plant.  

As the editor in Chief, I express a deep sense of gratitude for all those who 
directly or indirectly contributed in making this first issue of GPP’s e-Newsletter, 
a plethora of institutional progress and achievements. I am thankful to our 
Principal, Management and all my colleagues for their guidance and cooperation 
time to time to bring out this issue.

Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
 

Department was established in year 1967. It Started functioning under


Autonomous Polytechnic when the Institute was awarded Academic
Autonomy Since 1994.

Department Vision 
“ To develop professionally competent engineer to meet the challenges of 
modern industry by inculcating lifelong learning skills to serve for 
socio-economic development.” 
 
 


 
 
Department Missions 
● M1:  To  develop  the  students  to  accept  contemporary  challenges  in  the 
field  of  electronics  and  telecommunication  engineering  by  providing 
positive environment in the department. 
● M2:  To  enable  the  students  to  pursue  higher  education,  promote 
entrepreneurship  by  imparting  quality  technical  education  in  the  field  of 
Electronics and telecommunication engineering.  
● M3:  To  create  an  environment  for  overall  personality  development  of 
students  including  creative  and  innovative  thinking,  team  work  and 
professional ethics. 
● M4:  To  motivate  students  leading  towards  multidisciplinary  innovative 
projects  and  establish  linkages  among  industries  and  educational 
institutes. 
 
PEO’s (Program Educational Objectives) 
Student will be able to: 
● Use basic principle of science & mathematics tools in E&TC engineering. 
● Prepare competent engineers suitable for industrial environment in the 
field of E&TC engineering like installation, operation ,maintenance and 
application. 
● Inculcate fundamental knowledge to start their own entrepreneurship as

Learning Resources 
Projectors 
● There are two projectors in the department, one is sony make and other is 
manufactured by Dell. 
● Both are in working condition also; technical plan and lab plan is prepared 
by all faculties. 
● 80% of faculties use their own PowerPoint presentations. 

Laboratories 
● There are 7 laboratories in the department.  
● These are Analog Electronics lab, Digital and Microcontroller lab, 
Measurement and Control, Communication Engineering, Electronic 
Workshop, Advanced Communication Lab, and Computer Centre. 

New facilities Created in Dept: 


● Departmental Library and simulation laboratory are the new facilities 
developed recently in the department. 
● Books for the departmental library are donated by staff and YCMOU 
centre.   

Result Analysis  
● Number of Courses below 60 % (For Ist Shi ) : NIL 
ALL COURSES ARE HAVING RESULT ABOVE 60% 

● Number of Courses with Result below 60 % 


(For IInd Shi ) : Only 4 courses 
Remedial classes are planned to improve performance. 


 
Expert Lectures 
There have been 6 expert lectures organized within the AY 2019-20. 

They focused on the interview techniques, plastic waste management, 


importance of grooming, cyber security and many more topics. 

These lectures were conducted by experts from various fields like head HR of 
Toyota Motors, Police sub inspector of cyber police station, and many more.

● 25 students from TY Ist & IInd shi paticipated in “Broadband 


Technician”,Course at,BSNL,Training Centre, Chinchwad,Pune under NSDC  

● Tree plantation in department on 20 th july 2019. 

● 3 days workshop on IoT is conducted from 14/02/2020 to 17/02/2020 for 


students. Total 39 students participated in workshop. 

● Techno-fest 2K20 Event is proposed under ETESA in E&TC department on 


15th Mar and 16th Mar2020.

Socio-Industry Activities of Department: 
 
Rotary Club of Pune installed sanitary napkin disposal machine in the 
department under ‘social project on faminine hygiene includes safe disposal of 
sanitary napkin’. 
Heartfulness Meditation Program arranged for different members of society and 
students. 
Under 150 th Birth Anniversary of Gandhiji , different social activities are being 
conducted during 2018 & 2019(4 activities completed till date). 

Celebration of150th Birth Anniversary of Gandhji (2018-2019): 


Shramdan in department on 31stJan 2019 around 100 students participated in 
activity. 

Poster competition on 02 Feb 2019 -13 students participated. 

Elocution competition on 20/02/2019- 06 participants.
