Microwave Engineering Notes

Microwaves are electromagnetic waves between 300 MHz and 300 GHz in frequency. The electromagnetic spectrum is the range of all electromagnetic radiation. The ionosphere is the layer of the atmosphere with high ion and electron concentration that can reflect radio waves. The layers of the atmosphere are the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere. Thermosphere is also called the sphere of heat. Klystron and magnetron are types of microwave generators.

Define microwave.

An electromagnetic wave of shorter wavelength ranging from about one meter to one millimeter but high in
frequency between 300 MHz to 300 GHz
What is electromagnetic spectrum?
The electromagnetic (EM) spectrum is the range of all types of EM radiation.
What is ionosphere?
Ionosphere is the layer of the earth's atmosphere having high concentration of ions and free electrons. The said
sphere is also able to reflect radio waves.
Enlist the names of Atmosphere (The jacket) layers
The atmosphere layers are Troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere and exosphere.
Who was Leon Philippe?
Leon Philippe was the French meteorologist who is famous for the study of atmosphere.
Which layer is called sphere of heat?
Thermosphere is called sphere of heat.
What is regional hyperthermia?
It is the process of a Cancer Treatment in which a part of the body i.e. organ, limb, or body cavity is heated.
How bandwidth is described?
Bandwidth describes the maximum data transfer rate of a network or Internet connection.
What is the importance of sterilizing?
Sterilizing is important because it’s free the instrument from harmful microorganism
Why stent is used in angioplasty?
A coronary artery stent is a small, metal mesh tube that expands inside a coronary artery.
A stent is often placed during or immediately after angioplasty
EWRI stands for.
Electromagnetic Wave Research Institute.
What is XRD technique?
X-ray diffraction is a powerful nondestructive technique for characterizing crystalline materials.
What are the parameters of transmission line?
The transmission line has mainly four parameters, resistance, inductance, capacitance and conductance.

What is waveguide?
A waveguide is a structure that guides waves, such as electromagnetic waves or sound, with minimal loss of
energy by restricting the transmission of energy to one direction.
Enlist the types of transmission line?
Types of transmission line include parallel line (ladder line, twisted pair), coaxial cable, and planar
transmission lines such as stripline and microstrip.
Define frequency?
Frequency is the number of occurrences of a repeating event per unit of time.
By whom the doctoral thesis was written on x-ray diffraction in 1921?
NELLO CARARA wrote his doctoral thesis on X -ray diffraction in 1921.
What is the importance of chemotherapy?
Chemotherapy refers to the use of any drug to treat any disease.
