Name and Logo Design Competition for Instant Messaging System

Terms and Conditions

1. The Contest is open to Indian Nationals only.

2. All entries for the contest must be submitted to DO section of www.mygov.in only. Entries
submitted through any other medium/ mode would not be considered for evaluation.

3. The winning entry for the Contest would be the intellectual property of the National Informatics
Centre (NIC) and the winner cannot exercise any right over it, after the results are declared. The
winner shall be deemed to have surrendered copyright/s of the winning entry to the contest
organizers after the declaration of the results. Winner will also be required to give an
undertaking for the same.

4. The winning entry for the name and logo is meant to be used by the National Informatics Centre
(NIC) for promotional and display purposes and also for any other use as may be deemed
appropriate for the initiative.

5. The suggested name and logo must be original and should not violate any provision of the Indian
Copyright Act, 1957.

6. The entry must not contain any provocative, objectionable or inappropriate content.

7. The participant must be the same person who has conceptualized the name and logo. Plagiarism
of any nature would lead to rejection of the entry from this contest.

8. Anyone found infringing on others' copyright would be disqualified from the contest. NIC does
not bear any responsibility for copyright violations or infringements of intellectual property
carried out by the participants. All entries are governed by the provisions of Logos and Names
(Prevention of Improper Use) Act, '1950 and any violation of the said Act will result in
disqualification.

9. The employees of NIC as well as their family members are not allowed to take part in this
contest.

10. Participant should ensure that his/her Profile is accurate and updated within MyGov, as the
“contest organizers” (i.e. NIC) may use the information on the profile for further communication.
This includes participant name, photo, country declaration, email ID, phone number, postal
address, etc. Contest organizers may also ask participants for any profile-related details or
further information. Entries with incomplete profiles would not be considered.

11. NIC reserves the right to cancel or amend all or any part of this Contest and/ or the Terms &
Conditions. However, any changes to the Terms & Conditions/ Technical Parameters/ Evaluation
Criteria, or cancellation of the Contest, will be updated/ posted on the MyGov platform. It would

be the responsibility of the participants to keep themselves informed as to any changes in the
Terms & Conditions stated for this contest.

12. By registering for participation in the Contest, the Participant(s) warrant that:
a) They have complied with these terms and conditions;
b) Their entry for name and logo is original;
c) Their entry for name and logo does not infringe any Intellectual Property Rights of any third
party;
d) Any current employer and/or learning institution that the participant is employed by or enrolled
with would have no claim on the name and logo submitted.

13. NIC reserves the right to reject any entry based on its discretion.

14. NIC accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss or injury of any kind suffered by any
participants in entering the Contest, including as a result of any participant winning or not
winning any prize.

15. NIC will not be held responsible if the participants are not able to upload their entries on MyGov
portal before the last date & time of submission for any reason whatsoever.

16. Entries must be submitted by the closing date and in the manner set out in the Contest terms
and conditions. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

17. Multiple submissions of entries by the same participant would not be considered.

18. The results of the contest would be declared on MyGov blog portal https://blog.mygov.in/

19. The tentative date of declaration of the result for the contest is 15 days from the date of
publishing.

20. In case of any issues, the participant shall be responsible to settle any legal proceedings arising
out at his/her end. NIC will hold no responsibility of any such issues.

21. The contest is open to the general public. There is no restriction on the participation size.

22. NIC will have the right to modify the winning name/logo/ entry or add/delete any info/design
feature in any form to it.

23. Each participant/team shall submit ONLY one entry. There is no entry fee to participate in the
competition.

24. The onus to prove if he/she is the authorized representative to send the entry shall be on the
participant/applicant. In case of selection, it will be given to the applicant only. NIC will not be
responsible for any dispute, legal or otherwise, arising out of it.

Evaluation Criteria

1. The design of the logo should reflect creativity, uniqueness and vibrancy.

2. Each entry must be accompanied by a brief description of the concept behind the design of the
logo and how does it communicate the essence of the Instant Messaging System.

3. The logo should be usable on the website/mobile app/social media such


asTwitter/Facebook/Instagram and on Magazines, Commercial Hoardings/Standees, Brochures,
Leaflets and Pamphlets, Souvenirs and other Publicity and Marketing materials.

4. The logo shall be in PSD, AI, JPEG, PNG or PDF format only.

5. The logo may contain words/phrases in English or Hindi.

6. The name suggested may be in any language

Selection Process

1. All the entries received by NIC would be assessed for awards by Screening Committee for an
initial evaluation. After such screening, all approved entries would be assessed by a Selection
Committee for final evaluation.

2. Entries would be judged on the basis of elements of creativity, originality, composition,


technical excellence, simplicity, artistic merit and visual impact and how well they communicate
the essence and objective of GIMS.

3. The decision of the Selection Committee would be final and binding on all the contestants and
no clarifications would be issued to any participants or any decision of Selection Committee.

4. NIC shall not use the disqualified entries for any purpose and NIC shall have no intellectual
rights over the same.

5. Any legal proceedings arising out of the contest/ its entries/ winners shall be subject to local
jurisdiction of state of Delhi.
