I. Objectives
After the lesson, students are expected to:
1. Differentiate intentional injuries from unintentional injuries.
2. Classify the given situation as to whether they refer intentional or unintentional
Injuries.
3. Showcase example of intentional and unintentional injuries through role playing

Good morning class! How are you We’re doing fine Sir!
today?
Well I’m glad to know that.
So what time do you go to school daily? I go to school 5:30 in the morning
Why do you leave your house early?
I have to leave the house early so that I can
catch the bus before 7:30 O’clock in the
morning and attend the flag ceremony in
school.
How about the others, what are your
means of transportation in going I prefer to ride in a motor bike because I can
school? save time and effort.
I ride on a jeep because the fare is much
cheaper.

So where do you think is much safer, to We can never say or we cannot assure that

This morning, we are going to discuss


all about the difference between
intentional and unintentional injuries.

What is injury? Sir! Injury is the fact of being injured; harm or


damage.

First we have intentional. Please kindly Intentional injuries include self-inflicted and

3. Suicide Suicide-is the act of intentionally causing

seconds in homes. They include:

b. fires - smoke inhalation kills
more often than burns best

also having a plan of escape.
c. poisoning - caused by household
products, plants, & medicines. Call

best advice on treating.
d. suffocation and choking -
50% of deaths involve children;
common causes are loose
bedding, plastic bags, & window
blind cords. Food and small objects
can obstruct the airway. Use the

loaded. Never assume a gun is
safe.

4. Work related injuries


frequently the result of:
1. lack of training
2. poor worker attitudes
3. stress & fatigue

5. Recreational injuries
Nonfatal injuries resulting from
sports such as cheerleading,
wrestling and boxing.
Four ways to prevent? Wear
a. safety and protective gear b. use
it properly & consistently.
c. avoid use of drugs and alcohol.
d. be aware of your actions.

safe!

A. Activities
I want you to group yourself into two
and put the words in order. To (The students will group themselves)

Okay, I have six types of injuries.
What you’re going to do is put the
injuries where they belong.

B. Analysis
Now we know the two types of
injuries. Let us read the definition to
fully understand what these are (The students will read the PowerPoint
presentation)
Intentional injury- is a self-inflicted
and interpersonal acts of violence
intended to cause harm.

Unintentional injury- is an
undesirable, incidental, and
unplanned event that could have
been prevented had circumstances
leading up to the accident been
recognized, and acted upon, prior to
its occurrence.

following reasons:
-lack of warning signs
-lack of discipline
-poor training methods
-misuse of safety equipment
-mental exhaustion

Injury. Again what is injury? Sir! Injury is the fact of being injured; harm or

Give ways on how to prevent suicide in our country.

V. Evaluation

Make a drama presentation on how to prevent intentional injuries and unintentional injuries.
