Inverse Trigonometric Functions: Remesh's Mathematics

The document discusses inverse trigonometric functions. It defines inverse functions and lists the six main inverse trigonometric functions. It provides the principal value ranges for each function. It then gives the domain and range of each inverse trigonometric function. Several properties of the inverse trigonometric functions are outlined, including function compositions, relationships between functions, addition and subtraction formulas, and conversion formulas between functions.

INVERSE TRIGONOMETRIC FUNCTIONS]

INVERSE TRIGONOMETRIC FUNCTIONS

1
A function f : A  B is invertible if and only if it is a bijective. If y  f ( x)  x  f  y  , is known
as x is equal to f inverse y.
1
There are six inverse functions viz. sin x,cos1 x,tan 1 x,cos ec1x, sec1 x and cot 1 x.

Principal value of an Inverse function

The ranges of the inverse trigonometric functions are called principal values of the inverse function. The
 
principal value of sin 1 x , tan 1 x and cosec1x are the angles that lie between  and and the principal value

of cos1 x , sec1 x and cot 1 x are the angles that lie between 0 and  .
