Introduction
environment relevant to their course to learn productivity in, knowledge on, and respect for the
workplace. The students are exposed to actual workplace experience in order enhance their skills,
knowledge, and attitude towards work necessary for satisfactory job performance.
This is where students can learn how to apply their knowledge and skills learned in their institution. How
such theories and ideas are applied in real life circumstances. It also helps students build their
competence towards work, to be able to complete given tasks correctly and professionally.
For Engineering students, practicum is given before their senior year where most or some design
subjects are finished and students has already acquired some knowledge to apply in real life.
However, Due to the Pandemic that spreading worldwide, OJT students from various parts of the
country are being pulled out from their respective workplace in response to the government’s
With this pandemic which is still a treat to everyone, people left with no choice but to stay in their
homes and adopt to the new normal. The training which is supposedly done to different areas approve
by the campus, changed into online so that students can still push through without furthermore
Campuses created different modes to deliver or teach the knowledge that students are suppose to
learn. Even in this situation, they are still giving us the quality education through different platforms.
Our modified On-the-job training where given to us. Our class adviser grouped us to 4-5 members each
and gave us instructions on how our training will take place without compromising our health by going
Our class adviser created group for us to discuss how our class will proceed. He gave us instruction on
what to do even if it will be done online with no site works or any related to CE works that requires for
us to go outside. Even if we are quite sad to not experience real OJT that we want, our adviser brightens
our mood and makes us laugh through simple but funny humor.
Our adviser decided to group us and with each team having a task to do in creating a prepared plan for a
sample proposal. Each team are as follows; Team 1- Planning and Design, Team 2- Cost Estimate, Team
3- Scheduling, Team 4- Pre-Construction. Our adviser explained that in order for succeeding teams to
proceed, the first team must finish their task first and it must be checked for revisions and be approved.
We were given Two Weeks (10 days) to finish a proposal, after that groups will be shuffled to change
On the next day the first project was given, it is to for us to design a bungalow house on a proposed site.
The details that the end user wants were given to us.
I was assigned in Team 4 so we were the last one, we need to wait for other teams first to finish their
More that a week have passed but Team 1 still didn’t finish their tasked. Team 2 were instructed to start
their task of estimating. There are still changes that are needed to be done and we are still on standby
On July 1, our adviser gave us the 2nd Project. We were assigned in planning and design. We were
instructed to design a Two-Storey residential building with the floor area give, and details which the end
user wants.
Our team immediately started throw different ideas onto what will the houses floorplan will be, we
share our opinions with each other and it gave us some difficulties in deciding which one is the best. So,
we just decided that everyone of us will create their floor plan and we will compile it to be checked and
Our adviser Chose which plan we will modify. We just need to Modify some parts on the floor plan and
structural, architectural, electrical and plumbing plans. He also noticed that teams take longer time to
finish their tasks so he asked for some suggestion on which how we will solve this problem. One of my
classmates, suggests that instead of teams switching the task that is provided to the in every project,
why not just stick to one project and finish it from planning and design to Pre-Construction.
On July 07, Project 3 were given to Team 3. They were instructed to design a two-storey residential
building with the details given by our adviser. Three days later the last project was handed over to Team
`
4, it was to redesign an existing duplex residential building into two-storey building without major
We also finished modifying our floor plan and approved by our adviser. We then proceed in designing
for the structural, architectural, plumbing and electrical plans of our project. It was quite difficult
because even though we created plans before, this is the first time that we are doing this with the
Teams started to send their proposed floor plans for checking. We’ve taken a lot of time in preparing our
set of plans this week, specifically on our 3d design. With lots of revisions still coming because we
constantly sending and asking our adviser for suggestions. Team 1 in particular, were given until the end
of this week to submit their accomplishments with lots of revisions slammed onto their project.
WEEK 5( 20-24)
With the revision of our 3d design and set of plans finishing up, we started to run our design into STAAD
software for our structural analysis. I’ve stepped up to do the RCDC design, even though it’s quite hard
because it’s the first time that I’ve used the software, our adviser gave us links to videos that we can use
Other teams were also given a deadline to submit their accomplishments on the last week of this
month, while the last team were given up until the first week of August. We were also instructed to join
Webinars which are in line with our course and to prepare a presentation for our final requirement.
`
This week will be the deadline and presentation of teams. We’ve finished mostly of our project but
there still some details that needs to be revised. Team 1 were the first one two present they were given
until Monday next week to pass their revision while other teams were given until Friday.
I’ve also attended some Webinar which were presented by FEU Tech. It was an amazing experience
personally because it gives me an opportunity to listen to different guest speakers, and acquire
knowledge on my part as a student who wishes to become an engineer like them someday. It was also a
Revision were the things that each team doing in this week. Finalizing our plans. Creating our
presentations, and reviewing our work for us to be ready if there’s some questions thrown at us during
The presentation pushed through, Team 3 should be the first one to present but their members are still
As for our presentation, I’d say that it was still successful. There are still some revisions to be made after
the presentation. Although the internet connection is poor and there are times were, we can’t
`
understand what our adviser are saying. He repeated it for us to understand well while righting down his
suggestions.

LEARNINGS
During my entire OJT I’ve experienced a lot of hardship. You need a lot of patience wen you are in real
life work. You need to manage your time in order wisely in order to comply through deadlines. In real
life, there are unexpected circumstances that you will face like revision, change in schedules or
deadlines. You just have to be profesiona lin taking up this challenges nd learn from it. Because in every
aspect that you do, there are still things that we alck that knwoledge of, and we can learn from it.
On-the-Job training also allows me to showcase my skills, knowledge and talents into the tasks that
CONCLUSION
Eventhough it is not the On-the-Job training that I wanted to experience in the first place, I’d still want
to thank our adviser for giving us such a memorable one. This training gave me an inspiration to be more
serious and focused on studying. I want to learn more about the work that I’ll be doing once I’ve finished
To see the finished output that we’ve worked throughout gave me a lot of satisfaction and joy, to help
build other peoples dream is what I’ve always dreamth of when I chose my course in our university.
This experience will always help me an engineering student and in the future, as it gives me a glimpse of
