THE PURPOSE OF PRACTICAL WORK – take knowledge about creating objects in program using Surface
and Polygonal modelling.
Open the program Maya. Main view - Front. In this view select View menu – Image
Plane – Import Image or click on Image plane button . Load the image with the traditional
chess.
To move the picture, select Image Center for the required axis in Chanel Box and
holding the mouse wheel move the picture along the axis.
For creation cylindrical shapes we will use Curves and the Revolve command. Select
Create – CV Curve Tool (click on the box) – Curve degree: 3Cubic.
Increase the Pawn figure and start tracing its half of the curve. Delete extra dots with
the Delete key.
Select the Select tool and RMB (right mouse button) on the curve to select Control
Vertex from menu. Now you can move any points with the Move tool.
After fixing the curve control points, RMB on the curve and select Object Mode.
Select the Move tool and move the curve away from the image.
Click the Insert key and move the Pivot to the center of the future figure (along all
three axes).
