a. Is teaching of rlw course realistic given the dangers and sensitivities of literature as a means
, what would it be and what its relation to the analysis and understanding of nation-building
The Catholic Church disapproves of the passing of the Rizal Law simply for the reason
that Rizal's works like "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo" contain negative
criticisms with the Catholic church that time. So it is great discrimination for the church
today especially fo the Catholic instructors to teach the abuses and conditions
happened from the past.
2. Studying the Rizal Law would benefit students to learn more about our National hero
and understand deeply the meaning of his works. It would also help students to make
inspirations and motivations from Rizal, possibly might help and hone our minds to think
critically with our views with the country.
3. His alleged winning piece, entitled El Consejo de los Dioses, entails Homer, Virgil,
and Cervantes' reputations being cross-examined by the Greek gods in Mt. Olympus
They were arguing who among the three (3) literary figures was the best in terms of art
and virtue, whose musings led to them declaring Cervantes as a winner, whose works
were centered around social reform and the rule of reason. Rizal, as Minerva, narrated
that Cervantes' work, Don Quixote, was chosen as the winning piece because it is "…
the magic hand that strongly guides human passions," and "the whip which punishes
and corrects without bloodshed."
4. First, they may be inspired by Rizal because he is the only hero who didn't use
violence in order to free the Philippines. It only shows that his works are powerful and
have important meanings. And as the National Hero of the country, it is important to
know his whole identity because he embodies the Filipinos.
Studying Rizal's Life and Works take us back to our nationalistic roots at the time when we
we're colonized by the Spaniards. It refreshes our understanding about the patriotism we should
have inside us and sparks our nationalism no matter what our country does. By dissecting his
life and works, it tells us that we, as Filipinos, should not be eaten by blind faith, have wide-open
eyes for all that is happening around us right now and speak for it so other people could realize
it as well and combat all these injustices and corruption. Dr. Jose Rizal makes us realize that
Filipinos deserve better than what is happening right now and we should make our voices heard
not just in our own yard but also around the world.
The study of Rizal’s Life and Works can be a great influence to the students in such context. If they were
to take personally and take seriously what happened from the past, it might affect the views and opinion
of people learning the history in the present. However, the study of the history and the context of Rizal’s
Life and Works should be taught with caution that what happened from the past stays from the past and
should not reflect negatively in the present. Thus, this should be taught as an inspiration and motivation,
and a basis for comparison for the betterment of the country especially the implication of the
