Fpdc (front post double crochet): yo, insert hook from the front around the
stem of the hdc/dc in the row below from right to left, then complete st in the
usual way.
Bpdc (back post double crochet): yo, insert hook from the back around the
stem of the hdc/dc in the row below from right to left, then complete st in the
usual way.

FOR THE BAND/ BRIM:


CH9
ROW 1: HDC in the 2nd CH from the hook back and in every CH to end. CH1, turn. (8HDC)
ROW 2: HDC both loops in the 1st ST, HDC in BLO in the following 6STS, HDC in last stitch. CH1,
turn. (8HDC)
ROW 3 to 40: Repeat ROW 2
SLST shorter ends together to form a band.
CH2 and HDC all the way around the top (edge) of the band. SL ST into the 1st HDC of the round to
join last round. YOU SHOULD MAKE 60 HDC’s

FOR THE BODY:

ROUND 1: CH2. *1FPDC each of next 2HDC, 1BPDC each of next 2HDC; Repeat from * to end.
SLST to the top of CH2.

ROUND 2: CH2. 1FPDC next ST, *1BPDC each of next 2STS, 1FPDC each of next 2STS*; Repeat
from * to last 3STS, 1BPDC in next 2STS, 1FPDC in last ST. SLST to the top of CH2.

ROUND 3: CH2. *1BPDC each of next 2STS, 1FPDC each of next 2STS; Repeat from * to end. SLST
to the top of CH2.

ROUND 4: CH2. 1BPDC next ST, *1FPDC each of next 2STS, 1BPDC each of next 2STS*; Repeat
from * to last 3STS, 1FPDC in next 2STS, 1BPDC in last ST. SLST to the top of the CH2.

ROUNDS 5-12: Repeat ROUNDS 1-4

ROUNDS 13-14: Repeat ROUNDS 1-2

ROUND 15: CH2, 1BPDC next ST, SK next ST, *1FPDC each of next 2STS, 1BPDC in next STS, SK
next ST*.Repeat from * to last 2STS. 1FPDC in next 2STS. SLST to the top of the CH2.

ROUND 16: CH2, *SK next ST, 1FPDC each of next 2STS*. Repeat from * to end. SLST to the top of
the CH2.

ROUND 17: CH2, *1FPDC around each of next 2STS, SK next ST*. Repeat from * to end. SLST to
the top of the CH2.

FINISHING:

Bind off leaving a 6” tail. Thread a tapestry needle and weave in and out of each sts. When you reach
the beginning again, flip the beanie upside and pull the string so the hole closes. You will then stitch
the hole closed. Bind off and weave in any loose ends.

Attach pom pom (optional)

Note: I secure my pom poms by weaving the yarn up through the work, back through the pom pom
and back through the work
