Design of Two Way Slab (Continuous) : Given Data

The document summarizes the design of a two-way continuous slab. It provides the given data, assumptions made, and calculations for [1] determining the required slab thickness, [2] calculating design moments, [3] sizing reinforcement, [4] checking deflection and crack width, and [5] presenting the results which specify reinforcement as 8mm bars at 200mm centers for both the short and long spans of the slab.

Grade of concrete (fck) = 20 N/mm2
Grade of steel (fy) = 500 N/mm2
Load factor = 1.5
Xumax/d = 0.456
Mu limit (Qu) = 2.655

Solution:
1.Thickness of slab:
Assume modification factor = 1.6 (% of steel is 0.2%)

Adopt thickness of slab is = 125 mm
Effective depth of slab (d) = 96.0 mm
2.Effective span:

Total load = 7.625 KN/m2
Total design load (W)/m = 11.438 KN/m
4.Types of slab
Ly/Lx value = 1.50 < 2
The slab is to be designed as Two way

5.Bending moments coefficents:

Support condition 3.One Long Edge Discontinuous

The slab depth is enough

7.Reinforcements:

2 )1000 x d
Minimum area of steel (Astmin) = 0.12 %
