Preventive Maintenance Checklist

Inspection & Cleaning

 Ask the customer if they have experienced any performance issues.
 Inspect the entire exterior of the system, peripherals, and power cord for any physical
damage evidence of abuse or moisture, or any other condition requiring service intervention.
This should include, but not be limited to, checking for evidence that improper cleaning
solutions have been used on the system plastic parts or the control panel.
 Physically inspect transducer cables, connectors, and lens for external damage. On TEE
transducers also check for bite marks and the TEE controls for proper operation.
 Inspect and clean the trackball.
 Inspect and clean the monitor
 Inspect and clean the control panels & keyboard
 Inspect footswitch, keypad, and remote control pad (if installed).
 Inspect casters and ensure smooth operation. Ensure brakes work correctly.
 Clean all of the system filters and check fans for proper operation.
 Check the articulation and movement of any user interface assembly (monitor, keyboard,
control panel, etc.)

Performance
 Execute the full set of system diagnostics and confirm they passed.
 Check, download, and clear logs.
 Reset Patient Database (perform only if the customer has backed up the data).
 Perform hard-disk maintenance procedures appropriate for this system (as needed).
 Check for current back-up of system settings and configurations.
 Check that all of the user controls and lights are operational.
 Check the ECG cable and trace on the screen.
 Check operation of major system applications: 2D, 3D/4D, M-Mode, Doppler, Color and
CPA.
 Verify PRS connection.
 Run the Transducer Test on systems where supported. Export the transducer test log.

Peripheral Devices
 Test printers (if installed) for proper operation & clean if necessary.
 Test VCR (if installed) for proper operation & clean if necessary.
 Check digital recording devices (if installed) for proper operation.

Safety Testing
Measure the chassis to ground resistance of the power cord.
(pass = <150 mΩ (USA only)
(pass = < 200 mΩ (IEC rest-of-world)

Measure the earth leakage current normal condition.

(pass = < 300 μA UL (USA only)
(pass = < 500 μA IEC and CSA rest-of-world)

Measure the earth leakage current, single fault condition.

(pass = < 1000 μA)

Measure the ECG (“source”) leakage current, normal condition.

(pass = < 10 μA CF, or < 100 μA for BF)

Measure the ECG (“source”) lead leakage current single fault condition.
(Pass = < 50 μA CF, or < 500 μA for BF)

Measure the ECG lead isolation leakage current (“sink”) with mains on applied, single
fault condition.
(Pass = < 50 μA CF, or < 500 μA for Type BF Note 1 )
Measure the transducer (“source”) leakage current, normal condition.
(Pass = < 10 μA for CF and 100 μA for BF)

Measure the transducer (“source”) leakage current, single fault condition.

(Pass = < 50 μA for CF and 500 μA for BF)

Measure the transducer isolation (“sink”) current.

(Pass = < 50 μA for CF and 500 μA for BF Note 1)
