1. The developing framework is aimed to make sound or rich countries “catch down” to less
developed or poorer countries instead of the latter “catching up to richer economies. Moreover,
the de-developing framework” is to changing the sense and idea of development, from growth
of economy to the prosperity.
2: The traditional framework of the de-development is the concept that the individuals need more
and more growth for improving and making their lives better. But the de-developing framework
bear away and takes away these kinds of negative outcomes.
3: Hickel states that the rich countries can de-develop if they reduce their consumption for
maintaining prosperity, wellbeing and happiness, and rich countries will achieve the lifelong
expectancy. In other words, Hickel states that they can de-develop by sticking or force to quality
through and over quantity.
4: As we know that humans always want to do progress contentiously, the term such as de-growth is
just like implying to stop development and progressing. Moreover, Hickel frown upon pundits using
terms such as de-growth, zero growth, or de-development in describing an alternative framework
because these terms give a negative insight about the progress within the countries.
5: Hickel states that de-developing does not tell us to give things up or that de-development is not
about giving things up. Because it is simple to reduce the consumption for maintaining well being
and happiness as we discussed above. It can be also viewed as the slowing down. In addition to this
Hickel also states that rapid development is somewhat and partly bad because we tend to avoid and
keep away the laws of nature.
