To run ETAP 5.5.0 with two different keys, namely, a stand alone or a network key, follow the
steps below.
1. Launch ETAP 5.5.0
2.a If ETAP launches the ETAP License Wizard
automatically then specify:
• Stand alone or network key
• If stand alone, select a) USB, b) Parallel, c) Serial
Port: COMx
• If network key, enter server name or IP address
2.b Enter the activation code corresponding to the
appropriate hardware key.
3.a To switch the license key launch the ETAP License
Wizard through Open Project… On ETAP Logon dialog
box click on the “ETAP License Wizard…” button.
3.b repeat step 2.a & b.

ETAP 5.0.3
The best way to do this is to copy the ETAPS.INI file from C:\Windows or C:\WINNT and paste it
within the ETAP 503 folder. Then, create a shortcut to the ETAPS.INI file and enable the
appropriate ‘ini’ entry as follows:

a. Go to ETAP 503 folder and create a shortcut to ETAPS.INI


b. Drag and drop the shortcut on the Desktop
c. Double click on the shortcut of the etap.ini to open it in Notepad
d. Under [AppVariables] enter “LM Server=” and “LM TCP Server”
e. If the ETAP license is a stand-alone key then set the entries as shown on Image 1.
f. If the ETAP license is a network key then set the entries as shown on Image 2.

Any time ETAP is switched from one key to the other, just double click on the shortcut and edit
the ‘ini’ entries as shown on images 1 or 2.
