5. The number of each question answered MUST be written next to the solution.
6. Each candidate MUST enter his/her school code and registration number in the appropriate space

This paper has TWO sections: Section I, Assembly Drawing, and Section II, Sketch and Design OR
3D Solid Model Design Drawing
Answer ONE question from Section I, Assembly Drawing, and ONE question from Section II, Sketch
and Design OR 3D Solid Model Design Drawing.
Candidates MAY use EITHER the Traditional Drawing Method OR the Computer-Aided Drafting
Method.
1. Figure 1, on one of the enclosed sheets, shows the first-angle orthographic details of the parts
that make up a pipe vice assembly. In assembly, the screw (3) is fitted to the body (1), the movable
jaw (2) is fitted to the body (1), and the movable jaw (2) is fitted to the screw and secured by
the round head screw (5). The tommy bar (4) is fitted to the screw and the tommy bar end (6) is
secured to the tommy bar.
(a) Draw, FULL SIZE, in either first-angle or third angle orthographic projection, the following
views of the FULLY assembled pipe vice assembly:
(i) A full front section taken on the cutting plane line B-B.
(ii) An elevation looking in the direction of arrow C. Show all hidden detail.
(b) Show SIX main dimensions, including a length, a diameter, a radius and a metric screw
thread.
(c) Print the title ʻPipe Vice Assemblyʼand the scale used. Show the projection method by
symbol.
(80 marks)
2. Figure 2, on one of the enclosed sheets, shows the first-angle orthographic projection details of
the parts that make up a mounting jig assembly. In assembly, the body (1) is secured to the base
(2) using two hexagonal screws (5). The mounting spindle (3) is secured to the body using the
knurled nut (4).
(a) Draw, FULL SIZE, in either first-angle or third-angle orthographic projection, the following
views of the FULLY assembled mounting jig assembly:
(i) A sectional front elevation taken on the cutting plane line A-A.
(ii) An end elevation looking in the direction of arrow B. Show all hidden detail.
(b) Show SIX main dimensions including a length, a diameter, a metric screw thread and a
chamfer.
(c) Print the title ‘Mounting Jig Assembly’and the scale used. Show the projection method
by symbol. (80 marks)
3. Figure 3 shows the views o f a bearing bracket. Make a neat, well-proportioned, isometric sketch
o f the bracket with ‘S ’ at its lowest point. (20 marks)
