Basic rules:
1. The hat size (circumference) should be approx. 1-2cm / 0,4-0,8“ smaller then head
circumference. because the hat is stretch.

2. The slouchy hat height should be at least 2cm / 0,8“ larger then classical hat height.
Making the hat higher it is more slochy.

Stitches and abbreviations:

Instructions:
The slouchy hat is crocheted from the edge to top part:

1. Crochet HDC chainless foundation, which is approx. 1-2cm/0,4-0,8“ shorter then

head circumference. Join to the round.
2. Crochet the edge. Use hook one size smaller then is recommended.
Crochet HDCs and join the rounds with slip stitch.
3. Crochet the remaining part of hat. Use recommended hook. You can join the
rounds with slip stitch or crochet without joining – without back seam. Use stitch
marker.
4. When desired height crocheting, make the last round – decrease every two stitches
togetger. You will have half of the stitches.
5. Cast off, but leave 30cm/12“ long yarn tail and pull it thorught the stitches from the
last round. Pull it hard, finished off.

7. You can crochet in the same way, it means joining the rounds with slip stitch.

I made instead the slip stitch 1 HDC, because I did not join the rounds. My hat had
not

the back seam.

8. Use the stitch marker.

9. I crocheted up to 20cm/8“ height.
