Education is every bit essential in the progress of the economy of one`s country.

It is somewhat that education is linked to the progress of one country`s economy that

relies to the educational status that a constitution is implementing. On the other hand,

educational status is more often refers to the how a provision works through its

branches system. One of the systems that education are referred to as the human

capital or human resources of a country. The empowerment of the education perceived

as an intensively and critically described by the economy and vice versa.

The K-12 Basic Education Program proposed by the Department of Education

adds two years of secondary education to enable graduates to pursue one of three

tracks: employment after graduation, higher education, or entrepreneurship (2011).

These of the three tracks that employed by the department of education will

enable the learners to hasten and improve skills and knowledge to which then also

leads to the preparation of the learners in the possible courses they may take in the

future(2016).

The main purpose of this paper is to show the role of the new spiral K-12

curriculum focused on STEM Strand in response to the in economic development and

the effect of education on labour productivity, poverty, trade, technology, health, income

distribution and family structure. Education provides a foundation for development, the

groundwork on which much of our economic and social well being is built. It is the key to

increasing economic efficiency and social consistency. By increasing the value and
efficiency of their labor, it helps to raise the poor from poverty. It increases the overall

productivity and intellectual flexibility of the labor force. It helps to ensure that a country

is competitive in world markets now characterized by changing technologies and

production methods. By increasing a child’s integration with dissimilar social or ethnic

groups early in life, education contributes significantly to nation building and

interpersonal tolerance. As Haci Bektaş Veli in his book “The Rough Guide to Turkey”

has noted “a nation which does not educate its women cannot progress”. And as

explained by the 1987 Constitution of the Repulic of the Philippines – Article XIV

Section 1 “ The State shall protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at

all levels, and shall take appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all.”

To illustrate the different perceptions of the learners towards the implementation of

the Senior High School program, to be specific, in the field of Science, Technology,

Engineering and Mathematics.

To determine the main goal of the implementation of the Senior High School in adding

two years in high school by the government of the Philippines.

To figure out the specific effects of the implemented program in the economy and other

aspect of the country growth, it is then specific to the attributes of the Science,

Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
