NYU Full-Time Employee Benefits: Applications
The NYU Stern Department of Economics is hiring highly skilled and motivated individuals to work as
full-time predoctoral research fellows for a term of at least one year.
The job will entail close collaboration on a number of new and ongoing research projects with Professors
Niklas Engbom, Abdoulaye Ndiaye, Michael Waugh, and Venky Venkateswaran. The projects will
cover a broad range of topics in macroeconomics and public finance, including labor markets,
consumption-savings choices, development, financial frictions, and firm dynamics.
Research fellows will also be a part of the NYU Stern Economics academic community, which entails the
opportunity to attend courses, seminars, and social events with PhD students and faculty.
NYU Stern provides equal employment opportunities to all employees, applicants and job seekers.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a strong quantitative background, significant programming experience, and an
ability to solve problems independently. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a quantitative
concentration is required.
A background in economics is not necessary, as we welcome candidates with strong quantitative skills
(mathematics, computer science) who want to gain more exposure to economics.
Candidates with a strong interest in research and potential interest in graduate studies in economics are
preferred. Our previous research assistants have gone on to pursue graduate studies at Harvard,
Princeton, Northwestern, and Cambridge.
