M2 POST TASK

1. Give three (3) examples of sources that can be primary and secondary.
2. How to tell if the source is primary or secondary? Explain your answer.
3. Which is better, primary source or secondary source? Explain your answer.
4. Is a movie, primary or secondary source? Explain your answer.
5. Is a newspaper article a primary or secondary source? Explain your answer.

1. One example of sources are diaries which are a primary sources that includes daily
record of events and experiences of the author itself. Second example I can give is the
interviews which are a primary source but as long as the person interviewed was present
at the time of event. Book review is also an example of a sources which is included in the
secondary sources. It is not about retelling the information but it is a critical analysis and
evaluation of a book.
2. From what I’ve learned in the module, you can say that a source is primary if it includes
raw information that came from a first-hand experience of the event while secondary
sources includes a second-hand information in which includes analysis, interpretation,
and description of the primary sources. Primary sources are sources that helps us to get as
close as possible to what really happened in the actual event because it reflects the
perspective of an invidudual or observer. Secondary sources lack the freshness and
immediacy of the original material, it will also help the primary sources to increase its
usability and speed of delivery.
3. For me primary sources are better than the secondary source because it gives more
credible data as it came from the direct evidence. We can increase our skill in critically
analyzing information with that. Without the primary source, we cannot produce any
secondary data. But it is important to know if the primary source is really credible
because it can be biased. Secondary information will balance the credibility and
reliability of a primary sources.
4. Movie can either be a primary source or secondary source depending on the context it
will provide. For example, the fictional movie is a primary source and usually you are
just going to analyze the movie itself like its cinematography and social context. But if
the movie is about book adaptations or the adaptations of history and a scientific
discovery where you used it as a background information about your topic, then it is
considered as a secondary source.
5. Newspaper can either be a primary source or secondary source depending on the purpose
of article and how it is written. Newspaper that includes articles written recently like
what included in a daily newspape and is written immediately after the occurrence of
event by the reporters who witnessed an event it is a primary source. But if an article that
involves gathered information from witnesses in an event, it is a secondary.
