ManyChat Updates, topics covered:

1. Messenger QR Code

Update Starting Aug 15, 2019, Facebook Messenger will no longer recognize
Messenger codes. In their place, you can take advantage of the new QR code
functionality inside ManyChat to draw in new clients or customers.

For those who use the messenger code in the campaign and printed it offline,
you need to go into Growth Tools (Facebook Messenger code) you created,
open the desired Growth Tool, download new code and replace it offline.

2. Share Button - The organic share button inside ManyChat would no longer
be available starting August 15. By clicking the share button, you can share
the CARD to any of your Messenger Friends, and it would forward the whole
card including the buttons and links embedded onto it.

3. Vertical Lists - Vertical lists will no longer be supported. Instead, we


recommend businesses use the horizontally scrollable carousel templates.

August 15, 2019. They allowed people to leave a star rating and review for a

6. Location Quick Replies - These elements will no longer show up when a user
is interacting with your bot.

Using a quick reply set for reply type of location to gather a customer’s
location or address and is saved into a custom field will no longer work starting
August 15th.

7. Flow Builder Update (all triggers can easily be seen inside the flow builder)
- It’s simple. Just create a Growth Tool on the canvas and connect it to the
starting step. Trigger this flow with a special keyword or rule—all without
leaving the Flow Builder.

The Messenger changes you need to know and the updated Messenger
strategy
In this coaching session, we will cover all the updates you should know
about and how to implement this to your channel.
Overview of New Platform Policy (Applies starting January 15, 2020)
Four Main Platform Changes
1. Standard Messaging

Businesses and Pages will have up to 24 hours to respond to a user.


We know that customers expect business to respond to questions or
queries, the faster you engage the better the outcome is.
Messages sent within the 24 hour window may contain promotional
content.
2. Message Tags
This will enable business or pages to send important and personally
relevant updates outside the 24 hour standard message window.
Use of tags outside of approved use cases may result in restrictions on
your ability to send messages.
3. Subscription messaging

Allows news publishers to send regular news updates to their
subscribers in Messenger. This feature is only available for registered
news Pages under the Facebook News Page Index (NPI).
Page admins may access the subscription messaging request form by doing
the following:
• Go to Page Settings > Advanced Messaging
• Under 'Subscription Messaging' in the 'Requested Features' section,
click the 'Request' button.

4. Sponsored messages
Allow businesses to reengage with people who have an open
conversation with their Page in Messenger.
Can be sent outside the 24 hour standard messaging window and can
include both promotional and non-promotional content.
3 Main Steps to Be Ready
Step 1: Prepare Existing Flows
Tag messages that may be sent beyond the 24-hour window. There are
currently 3 main tags that you can use, these are:
1. Confirmed Event Update
2. Post Purchase
3. Account Update.

Step 2: Get Phone Numbers, Emails Addresses, and Consent


It is pivotal to collect subscriber phone numbers, email addresses, and
consent before January 15th. This makes sure that you always have access
to your audience, and also allows you to send content that doesn’t fit any of
the Message Tags.
NOTE: SMS is available for phone numbers in the United States. Canada, the
UK, Australia, Mexico, and Brazil by January 15, 2020 and more countries to
come by 1st quarter.

Channels before the changes on January 15th to make sure your channel is

COMMENT GROWTH TOOL

If you’re new to chat marketing, the Comment Growth Tool is one


of the most used tools in ManyChat. It’s simple, super-effective, and
it’s a pretty powerful tool when it comes to lead generation.

All you need to do is link the growth tool to a Facebook post or ad,
and when someone comments on the post, they get a message from
your ManyChat bot.

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT THE COMMENT GROWTH TOOL

Facebook Comments widget processes 20 comments per minute -


this limitation is implemented intentionally so Facebook cannot ban
your Page for spamming users.

The widget only works with comments from Personal Facebook


profiles - leaving a comment on behalf of your FB Page will not
trigger the Auto-response.
The tool works with new and old posts, but the bot won't recognize
already existing comments left in the old posts' comment sections.
