A. Module 3 Strokes in Badminton
Instruction:
1. Learn the different strokes one by one.
2. Instructional video demonstration by the teacher and other instructional
resources will be provided.
3. Practice the previous basic skills for a virtual practical test after next week.
4. Instruction on how to go along with the virtual practical test will be explained.

Badminton Skills: BASIC STROKES


1. Underhand Forehand

● Badminton offers a wide variety of basic strokes. All strokes can be played either
forehand or backhand. A player’s forehand side is the same side as his playing
hand: for the right-handed player the forehand side is his right side and the
backhand side is his left side.
● You can play upper arm shots or under arm shots. The choice of strokes
depends on:
> how near the shuttlecock is to the net:
> how high the berdie is:
> the current position of the player
1. Underhand Forehand stroke
a. From a defensive stance move the right foot backward

5. Netting backhand:forehand
Note: Used to receive a drop shot or shuttlecock closer to the net, or right after
the shuttle goes over the net

7. Overhead stroke
a. Stand at a defensive stance.
b. Stand at an offensive stance.
c. Raise up the racket over the head
d. Twist the hips to bring the body facing front with elbow of the racket arm is
leading high above the shoulder.
