Well to be perfectly honest you don’t. It’s very much about how your perceive risk. All our systems
are covered by a twelve month guarantee so if something breaks down in the first twelve months,
however unlikely' then we’ll come and sort things out for you free of charge.
We also advise you carry out the following regular maintenance tasks to keep your system running
efficiently:
If you identify any faults then let us know straight away to prevent a small problem getting bigger.
You can simply choose to pay as you go if any faults develop after the end of the warranty period.
However having invested in a CCTV system to protect your business, home and possessions it’s
important to keep everything in good working order so you continue to be protected at all times.
• Regular servicing can ensure the maximum component life and result in lower system
downtime saving you money by avoiding non-contracted hourly rates.
• All modern IP security cameras and Network Video Recorders feature user upgradeable
firmware. If a security vulnerability is found, Hikvision will often fix the vulnerability by issuing a
firmware update. As part of our service plans, we ensure that your cameras and recorders are
always running the latest, most safe, feature rich and stable firmware.
• Your insurance company may require you to regularly maintain your security system and if
you’ve not arranged appropriate cover your insurance claims may be invalid.
• If a fault only comes to light after a crime has been committed you may not be able to provide
the evidence to the Police
All of our service plans have been carefully created to provide you with peace of mind. The
service plan includes one visit every 12 months to carry out routine preventative servicing in
accordance with manufacturers specifications. Think of this as similar to a vehicle service you
would expect to have each year.
• Visually inspect all major components and connections for signs of deterioration or damage
• Check all control equipment (DVRs, VCRs, monitors, multiplexers, video switchers, telemetry
units etc.) for correct operation
• Check mains & power supplies and stand-by batteries including charging rates
• Check environmental conditions for adverse effects, including growth or shrubbery obscuring
camera views
• Check time and date settings in equipment and update the settings if needed
• Check integrity of all cabling and fixings and sample check external insulation for damage
• Check auxiliary lighting equipment, infra-red units and photocells (if present) for correct
operation
• Check air vents are clear in all control equipment including PCs
• Clean cameras, lenses and housing surfaces as necessary applying RainX and SpiderEx
• Check cameras are aligned to user specification, pictures for correct field of view and adjust as
necessary
• Check brackets, towers and fixings for corrosion or damage ensuring clamping bolts/brackets
are tightened correctly
• Check wash/wipe units and wiper blades (if any) for correct operation and fill washer reservoir
where necessary
• Check quality of recording during day time and night time modes
• Check pan and tilt assembly (if any) including fixings, electrical connections and functions
• Check the satisfactory CCTV transmission of images to remote site (if applicable)
• Check all camera and alarm presets and apply firmware update to NVR/DVR and IP cameras
where required
• Engineer visits outside of the yearly service visit as this is a proactive service plan rather than a
monitoring and back up contract
• Parts/materials identified that require replacement due to wear and tear, damage or otherwise
will be charged at cost.
