• To Start the Microsoft Excel Program in Windows 8:

1- Click on Start Button. (Fig 4.1).


2- Click on Arrow button to showing App Screen (Fig 4.2)
2- Click on Microsoft Excel 2013. (Fig 4.3).
3- Then shows the main screen of MS Excel. (Fig 4.4).

Definition of Main Screen

• The main screen of MS Excel consists of: (Fig 4.6)

1. Working Area
2. Row
3. Column
4. Cell
5. Name Box
6. Formula bar
7. Sheet name
8. Worksheets

Definition of Main Screen

• A file in MS Excel named is Book.


• A book Consists of Three sheets, named is (sheet 1,
sheet 2, and sheet 3)
• Each sheet consists of 16384 Columns and 1048576
Rows
• The columns and Rows created the Cells.
• The name of columns Started A,B,…..until XFD
• The number of rows started 1,2,3…. Until 1048576
• Each cell has a name that combined the name
Columns and Rows such as: A1,C5, D6….etc.

Selection

• To select a Cell click on the Cell.


• To select a Column click on the name of the Column.
• To select a Row Click on the Number of the Row.
• To select an Area of the cells, click on the first cell from up to
last cell in down.
• To remain previous selection select first area then press Ctrl
and select second area.
• To select all cells in the sheet click on the blank cell between A
and 1. or press Ctrl+A.
• To move the curser from start to end the rows and columns
press Ctrl with arrow keys.

Type a name then by using Drag and drop repeat it. Fig 4.7.

• To change sheet from left to right : Fig 4.16.


1. Click on the Page Layout Tab
2. Then Click on the Sheet Right-to-Left button.

If you create a table for the Kurdish or Arabic Language


should be change the sheet from left to write. Fig 4.17.
