ACTIVITY 1
The DepEd Memorandum on Suggested Strategies in Implementing LDMs for SY 2020-2021
included the Learning Resources (LR) Map as a guide in selecting the appropriate Distance LDM to
be implemented in Schools/Divisions. Study this map and answer the following questions in your
Study Notebook:
1. Based on the map, what resources should you have in order to implement the LDM
adopted by your School/Division?
Modular Distance Learning features individualized instruction that allows learners to use
self-learning modules (SLMs) in print or digital format/electronic copy, whichever is
applicable to the learner. Learners under MDL can also use other resources such as LMs,
textbooks, activity sheets, study guides and other study materials.
Usually, teachers will have to deliver appropriate learning materials. However, students
can also access these materials by downloading electronic copies through their PC, tablet or
smartphone.
The teacher should take the responsibility of monitoring the progress of the learners. If
possible, they will conduct home visits to check on each student’s progress and
performances.
Learners may ask for assistance from the teacher via email, SMS, Messenger, etc.
Parents or any member of the family, on the other hand, may serve as a guide to learners at
home.
Students will need to use these materials/gadgets: digital format, printed modules,
textbooks, activity sheets, study guide, smartphone, PC, tablet, etc.
2. Do you have the complete resources for the Distance LDM needed in class? If the LRs are
not complete or not available, what steps will you take to make these available? What are
your options to substitute these missing LRs?
DepEd will provide the complete resources for the DLM needed in the class. In case of
unavailability of these resources, there are certain steps a teacher can initiate in order to fill
these gaps.
The teacher can access LR Portals as an option to substitute missing learning resources.
3. What support will you need to maximize the use of the two DepEd-sanctioned LR Portals? From
whom can you get this support?
In order to maximize the use of LRDMS Portal and Deped Commons, we need to have a
curriculum support system from our own department, from our colleagues, from our local
government units (LGUs), and from private individuals who are willing to extend supports in the
production of LMs that will provide our learners a more enjoyable learning experience.
4. Based on your evaluation of the materials, are they appropriate to the level and characteristics
of learners? Are there learners who might be disadvantaged by the materials (based on reading
ability, level of learning independence, level of household support, distance)?
Based on my evaluation of the materials, most of the learning resources available in LRMDS
Portal and DepEd Commons are appropriate to the level and characteristics of learners. There are
learners who might be advantaged by the material and there are learners who might be not and it
all depend in their economic statues and within their reach.
As a teacher, it is our responsibility to address the needs of our learners in order to adjust to
these gaps. If the learning resources provided in the portals can only serve learners with gadgets
and internet access, the teacher can also offer these materials through printed modules.
l you make in terms of the LRs?
ACTIVITY 2
In your LAC Session, share and discuss your answers from the previous activity. What support can you
provide to your colleagues and what support can you get from them in terms of LRs? Take note of the
insights that you can gather from your colleagues and write them in your Study Notebook.
Based on our LAC discussion, sharing of LRs would be a great help/support to my colleagues. Likewise, I
would seek also from them.
I
ACTIVITY 1
1. LRMDS Portal. Ensure that you have an LRMDS Portal Account. If you have not registered yet, follow the
LR Portal User Guide to guide you in your registration process. Alternatively, seek assistance from any of
your colleagues or your IT personnel in your school, district, or division. You may also coordinate with your
LAC Leader and/or Coach. To understand the portal better, you may watch the LR Portal Video Tutorial
located in the resources of this Course.
2. DepEd Commons. Ensure that you have access to DepEd Commons. Refer to Memorandum on DepEd
Commons dated March 17, 2020.
2. What are the challenges in accessing the LRs in the portals both for you and your learners? How will
you overcome these challenges?
No Internet Access – Download and Provide hard copies of the LRs
Unstable Internet Connection – Wait for the Stable Internet Connection
Accessing the LRMDS Portal and DepEd Commons
- View the LR Portal Video Tutorial FB Link and DepEd Commons
-Follow the LR Portal User Guide
-Read the Memo on DepEd Commons dated March 17, 2020
3. What support will you need to be able to maximize the use of the LR Portals? From whom can you
get this support?
Have the LRMDS Portal/ DepEd Commons Accounts by seeking curriculum assistance system
from any of my colleagues or an IT Personnel, cluster or division. I can also coordinate with my LAC
Leader and/or coach, Local Government Units (LGUs) and private individuals who are willing to
extend supports in the production of LMs that will provide our learners a more enjoyable learning
experience.
ACTIVITY 2
In your next LAC Session, share and discuss your answers to the questions in Activity 1. Explore how you can
help and support each other in using the LR portals. Jot down the insights and helpful information regarding
the use.
LR Portals help us in gathering information about our lesson.
LR Portals give us the resources that are available for us, teachers and our learners.
LR Portals resources may have undergone a quality assistance process.
ACTIVITY 1
Study the LR Rapid Assessment Tool. Download an LR from either DepEd Commons or LRMDS Portal and
assess the material using the tool. Answer the following questions in your Study Notebook:
1. Was the material able to meet all the requirements?
Yes, the downloaded material from the portal was able to meet all the requirements using
the LR Rapid Assessment Tool.
2. Were there any questions in the assessment tool where you answered “No” or “Cannot Be
Determined”? What decision will you make on the LR material? Why?
Yes, as a teacher, I need to consider contextualizing some LR materials downloaded from the
portals.
3. Are there other aspects of the material not covered by the tool but still need to be assessed? Specify
which aspect/s.
For me, we should incorporate curriculum integration. Including this in the tool would
benefit our learners by exploring and discovering new things in relation with what is being taught by
the teacher.
4. How does this exercise help you in picking the right and appropriate LRs for your lesson and your
learners?
It will give us the idea of choosing the right LRs suited to every learner with his/her needs
and characteristics. If there are any slight revisions, we need to contextualize the LRs.
ACTIVITY 2
Explore other non-DepEd LR portals/platforms you can find online. Take note of the portals in your Study
Notebook. Download at least one LR from each portal. Assess the materials using the same tool and answer
the following questions in your Study Notebook:
1. Based on the Assessment Tool, how does the material from a non-DepEd Portal compare with the
LR from the DepEd Portal?
Though both materials from DepEd and Non-DepEd materials are supplemental for our
students’ learning, the materials from DepEd Portals are more accurate and MELCs-based in
comparison with LRs from non-DepEd LR portals/platforms.
2. Based on the results of the Assessment Tool, what improvements do the materials — both from
DepEd and Non-DepEd portals — still need?
Other materials still need curriculum integration and these portals should consider the needs
and characteristics of our Filipino learners in creating LRs.
3. How does this exercise help you in picking the right and appropriate LRs for your lesson and your
learners?
It is a great help to use this assessment tool in selecting and organizing my lesson with the
supplementation of free LRs from these portals. We do not need to spend a single centavo in
planning a lesson with supplementary materials. It will give us, teachers, the freedom to download
LRs from credible sources to avoid plagiarism.

ACTIVITY 3
Choose one of the LR materials that you have developed. Assess this material using the same tool. Answer
the following questions in Your Study Notebook:
1. How does your material compare with the ones that are obtained from the online portals?
Contextualized/developed materials by the teachers are more relative and suitable to learners.
2. What improvements do you still need to make in your developed material?
My developed material still needs to be more accurately mapped with the MELCs.
ACTIVITY 4
Share and discuss your answers to the questions in Activities 1, 2, and 3 in your next LAC Session. Jot
down insights and information that can be useful to you in choosing the appropriate LRs. Submit your LR
assessments with your reflection on the exercises to your LAC Leader. Ensure that you keep a copy for
yourself.
These learning resources from the DepEd and Non-DepEd entrances are supplementals in learning.
Their purpose is to provide deeper understanding of the lesson with the help of these supplementals, it
may be a diagram, images, video clips and reading materials. In expansion, it is fitting to evaluate the LRs
using Rapid Assessment Tool Template.
