1. Cryptography basic building blocks (digital Introduction in the basic knowledge of cryptography and computer security. Concepts for
signatures, digital signatures, hash functions, cryptographic algorithms, hash functions, PKI, secret sharing schemes.

2. Web and WLAN security a) Web security
Web communication methods with accent on security. Will be presented the most important
protocols and the vulnerabilities that can appear (SQL-Injection, XSS, browser timing attacks
etc).

b) WLAN security
WEP, WPA and WPS protocols, with accent on the vulnerabilities. Breaking WEP, WPA, WPS.
3. Transport layer security SSL, TLS, SSH, HTTPS
4. Computer systems and network security The concept of penetration testing and presenting the various ways for doing it.
5. Viruses, worms, malware and botnets a) Presenting the four main categories, with accent on newer variants of it (Stuxnet, Flame,
Duqu etc). Practical application on a botnet.

b) Malicious processes detection on Android/iOS/Linux/Windows operating systems.

c) case studies: ransomware viruses: cryptolocker and cryptowall.


6. Cloud computing security The concept of cloud computing and the most important elements. Various applications for
virtualization and cloud computing. Practical scenarios on different situations.
7. Gathering evidence from IT incidents Forensics basics. Steganography and retrieval of erased data from a hard-disk. Cloud computing
(forensics) forensics.

8. Electronic payments security Presenting the concept and the associated security issues. Practical scenarios on different
situations.
9. Operating systems security Basic concepts of OS security and examples. Introduction of TrueCrypt, DiskCrypt, BitKeeper
etc.
10. Identity Based Encryption Presenting the concept of IBE and the associated security issues. Examples.
11. Large scale networks security Presenting the concept of APT (Advanced Persistent Threat). Scenarios on different situations.
12. Avoiding suivilance TOR
13. Cryptographic algorithms evaluation The analysis and evaluation (brute-force, rainbow tables, or implementation attacks) of
cryptographic algorithms (e.g. AES, A5/1, RSA) on various platforms (GPU, FPGA etc).
