WCN Assignment 09CP02

The document is a student's answer to an exam question about calculating the number of duplex channels and channels per cell for a cellular system. It is given that the system has a total bandwidth of 25 MHz allocated for duplex communication, with each simplex channel being 30 kHz. The frequency reuse is 7. The student calculates that there are 416 total duplex channels, and that with the frequency reuse factor of 7, there are 59 channels per cell.

Q2.38: A cellular System with 25 MHz total bandwidth is allocated for duplex communication.
Each simplex channel is 30 kHz. The frequency reuse for the system is 7. Find

a. The total number of duplex channels.

b. The total number of channels per cell.

ANS:
a. Number of duplex channels:

Number of duplex channels = total bandwidth allocated / 2 * bandwidth of a single channel

So,

Here total number of duplex channels = 25 MHz/ 2 * 30 kHz

= 416.66

= 416 channels.

b. The total number of channels per cell.

Here we got total number of channels of cellular system is 416 channels.

The total number of channels per cell = total number of channels/frequency reuse factor

= 416/7

= 59 channels.
