Instructions: Answer FIVE FULL questions, choosing one from each unit.
UNIT -1
1. a) Apply the knowledge of signals and sketch the waveform for following equation. Plot 10
its even part and odd part separately and find the energy of the signal.
x(t) = u(t) +r(t-1) -2r(t-2) +r(t-3) + u(t-4) -2u(t-5).

b) Find the even and odd components of x(t)= t : 0<t<1 5


= 2-t : 1<t<2

c) Applying the knowledge of systems and verify the system is linear, causal, time 5
invariant and stable if the systems is described by an equation y(n) = n x2(n)

UNIT-2
2. a) Analyze and sketch the continuous time convolution integral of the signal x(t)=u(t)-u(t-3) 8
and h(t)= u(t)-u(t-1).

b) Analyze and find the forced response for the system given by difference equation. 8

4. a) Determine the Fourier series representation for the square wave shown in Figure 4(a). 10

5. a) Illustrate that the Fourier Transform of a sinusoidal signal has a pair of conjugate 6
impulses.

b) Find the Fourier transform of the given periodic function and sketch the Magnitude 8
and the Phase spectrum.

c) Using convolution theorem find the time domain signal from the given Fourier 6
