    According to an article in Berita Harian online 2016, 48% people in Malaysia belief

    in traditional beliefs . Most of them are from an older generation or a Boomer and the other
    half are adults and childrens. This means that, there are many teenagers out there does not
    involved in traditional beliefs. Traditional beliefs are widening the gaps between generations.
    In my opinion, I partially agree with the statements that traditional beliefs widening the gap
    between generations because some young generation does not understand really well about
    traditional beliefs, young generation also not believe the truth of traditional beliefs and an
    older generations can teach young people about traditional beliefs more detailed.

    First and foremost, traditional beliefs can widening the gaps between generations
    because there are some young people out there still not exposed with traditional beliefs or
    ritual from their parents or family. For example, most of the teenager’s parents were too
    busy with their works or carrier, so the parents rather spent their time with works instead of
    telling or explained more about traditional beliefs to their children such as ‘don’t singing
    during cooking’ rules. As a result, young generations don’t know about traditional beliefs
    really well meanwhile the older generations were always exposed with the beliefs from their
    parents. As a result, this situations will widening the gaps between young and older
    generations.

    Other than that, traditional beliefs also widening the gaps between generations
    because most of the young generations does not believe the truth of traditional beliefs
    because they thought that traditional beliefs are such taboo things. Furthermore, they also
    think that the beliefs are such a nonsense and superstitious to believe in this modern day. For
    example, rule of never swipe a floor during celebration day because this actions may bring
    you a bad luck to your life. However, most young teenager don’t belief this rule because they
    think the rule such a ridiculous and not logic meanwhile, the older generations beliefs that
    rule. So it is clearly shown that traditional beliefs will widening the gaps between
    generations.

    Finally, traditional beliefs also reduce the gaps between generations, it is because an
    older generations can explain to young people about traditional beliefs more details.. In case
    there must be a young generation that curious about the traditional beliefs and rules. Then, an
    older generatios will tell them about the beliefs more detailed such as the history behind the
    beliefs or the consequences that we will face if we break the beliefs or rules. In my opinion
    this will also reduce the gap between generations.
    In conclusion, traditional beliefs can widening and also reduce the gaps between
    generations.
