Pe Assignment 1

The document provides specifications for designing a flyback converter including an input voltage of 40V, output voltage of 25V, duty cycle of 0.5, rated load of 62.5W, and switching frequency of 75kHz. It asks to determine: a) the transformer turns ratio, b) the magnetizing inductor value, c) the maximum and minimum inductor current, and d) the capacitor value. It also provides a problem to develop Matlab code for a buck-boost converter design that can perform maximum power point tracking for a PV panel, including designing the converter for two loads: 2W and 100W.

ASSIGNMENT# 1

FLYBACK CONVERTER:
The Flyback converter has these specifications:

DC input voltage: 40V

Output voltage: 25V

Duty cycle: 0.5

Rated load: 62.5W

Max peak-peak inductor current ripple:

25% of the average inductor current.

Maximum peak-peak output voltage: 0.1V

Switching frequency: 75kHz

Based on the abovementioned specifications, determine

a) Transformer turns ratio

b) Value of magnetizing inductor Lm.

c) Maximum and minimum inductor current.

d) Value of capacitor C.

SOLUTION:
BUCK-BOOST CONVERTER:
Develop Matlab Code for design of buck-boost converter that can be used to ensure maximum
power point tracking of the power converter. PV panel I-V characteristics are same as discussed
in buck and boost converters. Design of buck-boost converter must include two loads: a) R= 2W;
b) R=100W.

Output with R=100ohms:
USING R=2ohms:
Output using 2ohms:
