Questions 1 to 15 carry one mark each.

1. Four lightweight plastic spheres labelled A, B, C and D are suspended from threads in various
combinations as shown below. Given that the spheres have equal masses, which of the following
statements is correct?

(a) A and D carry same sign of charges.


(b) B and D carry opposite sign of charges.
(c) A and C carry opposite sign of charges.

2. A negative charge –q is placed at three different positions (A, B and
