I. PRE-LESSON 1. Recite the directions chant with actions. Pupils listen and follow. re
1. Activity 1:
 Turn your back to the class, raise your left hand and say left. Then raise your right hand and
say right.
 Repeat a couple of times and invite pupils to do the actions.
 Do the actions for go straight, cross the street, and stop, saying the phrase/word each time
and invite pupils to do the same.
 Display directions flashcards on the board. Play the CD (track 2) and have pupils point to the
correct pictures in their vocabulary section. (SB pg 65)
2. Activity 2:
 Ask pupils to close their eyes and imagine. Give directions from school to a place in your
II. LESSON local area that pupils will know (e.g. a mosque or a shop), but do not tell them where they are
DEVELOPMENT going. Have pupils listen and follow your directions in their mind. They should tell you
where they are, where you took them. If/when pupils get confused, ask them to open their
eyes and watch you mime as you speak. Repeat once or twice, making it simpler or more
complicated according to the reactions and level of understanding of your pupils.
3. Activity 3:
 Ask pupils to tell you what they can see in the picture. (SB pg 65 Act 1)
 Tell pupils they are going to listen to a song. Ask them to guess what it’s going to be about.
(track 3)
 Play the song once and have pupils listen. Distribute worksheet. Play the song a second time
and have pupils write the phrases in the spaces provided. Check the answers.
 TPR Activity: Play the song and mime the actions. Encourage pupils to do the same.
III. POST LESSON 1. Mime game: Use some phrases from the song. E.g. Turn right, turn left, cross the street etc
