Description: Numerical analysis is the study of algorithms that use numerical approximation. Numerical analysis
naturally finds application in all fields of engineering and the physical sciences. The growth in computing
power has revolutionized the use of realistic mathematical models in science and engineering, and subtle
numerical analysis is required to implement these detailed models of the world.

Credit: 2 Units of Lecture and 1 Units of Laboratory

Prerequisite: MathEng 4
Course Objectives:
After successfully completing this course, students should be able to:
1. Understand the background calculation of computer for determining the roots of nonlinear equation
in one variable as well as for system of equations, in addition with function approximation and
interpolation, Numerical Differentiation and Integration, Eigenvalue Problems, Ordinary
Differential Equations and lastly Partial Differential Equations.
2. Develop a computer algorithm using VBA for the determination of the roots of nonlinear equation
in one variable as well as for system of equations, in addition with function approximation and
interpolation, Numerical Differentiation and Integration, Eigenvalue Problems, Ordinary
Differential Equations and lastly Partial Differential Equations.

Requirements:
1. Attendance is required and will be checked. A student who is absent for more than three (3) times
without a valid reason and excuse letter will be given a grade of 5.00 if he or she does not drop the
course. Late is equivalent to 50% absent. Attendance will check every 15 minutes after the official time.

NOTE: The Deadline of dropping is on October xx, 2020
