TED Talk Questions

Watch and Learn!

A. Answer the questions below based on the speech from TED Talk that you have
watched.

1. What is grit?
Grit is having passion and perseverance for having very long term goals, grit
is having stamina, Grit is sticking with your future. Grit means having passion
on what we are doing, the passion of learning, working, getting a life that we
desire. Grit doesn’t mean having a greet IQ what we just need is the passion
on being successful or the perseverance to become the best. Basically what
I understand is Grit means to just not give up, to learn and accept that we
aren’t great in math or some other things but having grit means that we can
still change that mindset of ours if we only work hard and give effort to doing
it.
2. How to build or develop grit among kids or students?
That talent is not needed. The best idea is growth mindset.
3. What is growth mindset?
Growth mindset is the belief that the ability of learning/ learn is not fixed or
stable. That it can be change or change with the help of our passion to learn
and effort.
4. Why is growth mindset believed to be a good way to develop grit?
It is believed to be a good way to develop grit because at a young age it
shows kids to not look at the bad side of failing but to actually look at it as a
good way of us learning something. It changes the idea of “when I fail I won’t
come back from this” to “when I fail it’s alright at least I know what to do or to
correct my error.” Growth mindset is actually a good way to develop grit
because it tells students, anyone to never give up that our mind is capable of
changing or is capable of adapting that we are allowed to fail because with
us failing we will know how to correct our errors and still persever in our life.
5. As a student, how are you going to start or continue developing grit in
yourself? List down at least 5 ways.
1. Practice, practice, and keep on practicing to perfect it eventually
2. Accept failing and also accept it that it’s a way for me, us to learn and that
we are capable of still learning
3. Be motivated with what fascinates us find interest and keep on finding that
interest by having curiosity to it finding answer to our questions
4. For me by not being shy to ask questions or not thinking of it as a “ay di
ko alam to di ko na lang tatanungin” but being open from people teaching
me or their opinions.
5. The best way for me to maintain and keep being gritty is to actually
surround myself with gritty people, friends, family, classmates. To have
the same goal in life and to be always reminded that I am not alone
