Derivative of Trigonometry

The document discusses derivatives of trigonometric functions. It provides the derivatives of the basic trigonometric functions: sine, cosine, tangent, cotangent, secant and cosecant. It also gives examples of using the product rule and quotient rule to take derivatives of trigonometric functions within products and quotients. Finally, it lists 15 additional problems and asks the reader to differentiate each function.

Derivatives of Trigonometric Functions. The basic trigonometric functions include the following 6
functions: sine (sinx), cosine (cosx), tangent (tanx), cotangent (cotx), secant (secx) and cosecant (cscx).
For each of these functions, there is an inversetrigonometric function.

Sum and Difference

1. 5sinx-4tanx 2. 8sec-5cosx

=5cosx-4sec²x =8secxtanx+5sinx

3. x³+sinx+4cosx 3. 3cscx+9tanx-4secx

=3x²+cosx-4sinx =-3cscxcotx+9sec²x-4secxtanx

Product Rule (f'g+fg')

1. (x²) (sinx) 2. (x³) (cosx)

2x (sinx) +x² (cosx) 3x² (cosx) +x³ (-sinx)

=2xsinx+x²cosx = 3x²cosx-xsinx

=x² [3cosx-xsinx]
