Evidence-based Practice integrates evidences from researches with clinical expertise
and conforming to patients’ needs while Evidence-based Nursing applies the valid and relevant
information that is based from researches to help the nurses with their decision-making on
caring for their patients’needs.

3. Explain the importance of evidence in nursing practice


Evidence is very important in nursing practice as they are used alongside nurses’
knowledge of their clients, their symptoms, diagnosis, and expressed preference which
promotes a mutual caring relationship between the nurse and her client with in which decision
making is taking place.

4. Discuss the three models of evidence-based practice for nursing.


The 3 models for evidence-based nursing practice are:
 Stetler Model – this model is used to make a summary of a research done and use
it to influence educational programs, make practice decisions and policies. With this
model, the research results are used to make or change policies and procedures.
 IOWA Model – this model has triggers that initiate change. It can be knowledge-
focused where research findings give awareness that pressures them to change. It
can also be problem-focused where discovery of problems helps initiate the decision.
 Ottawa Model – this model prescribes 3 main steps, assess barriers and supports of
the research, monitor the interventions and their degree of use, and evaluate the
outcomes to apply innovations into practice.
