Our society has developed valuable technology such as the microscope, telephones, calendars,
notebooks, and so on. One of these modern inventions that has arguably become the most
used object in our generation is the smartphone.

Ever since smartphones were invented, the majority of our population has carried them around
in their pockets and bags along with their cash and credit cards. Phones are small yet valuable,
as they have multiple purposes, such as setting reminders, looking up word definitions, taking
pictures, and accessing the internet. Most importantly, it is used for communication.

In the 90s, communicating with your loved ones working abroad would mean waiting for their
handwritten letters or paying outrageous fees for a phone call. Nowadays, you can message
them on numerous online messaging applications. You can also video call them using your
smartphone. It is also easier to stay in touch with your friends. Gone are the days when it was
hard to locate a childhood friend or an old lover. Smartphones can perform almost all the
functions of a laptop. Having a smartphone is really a must in today’s world.
