Analogue Compaction Display ACD

The indicating instrument ACD offers a control of the compaction process for vibratory rollers. It is suitable
for the standard or additional installation into the roller instrument panel. ACD represents on an LED scale
the relative compaction of the subsoil during rolling. The acceleration sensor ASC - installed at the roller -
determines constantly the actual compaction state below the roller bandage and presents it on the round
instrument to the driver.

Display
Compaction The more compressed the ground is, the more LEDs shine
and signal a higher value
Frequency The current exciter frequency
as a figure expressed in hertz
Jump Warning of sudden jump operation,
which can damage the ground and the roller

Technical characteristics
Dimensions Outer diameter: 95mm,
assembly diameter: 84mm, assembly depth: ca. 40mm
CAN interface For communication with the ASC sensor
CAN 2.0B, maximum Baud rate: 1Mbit/s
Temperature range -40 ... 85° C working temperature
Sensor ASC
The sensor ASC is the core item of the Völkel
compaction measurement. It is used to record the
oscillation behaviour of the bandage which is
evaluated by a microprocessor.
The following are calculated:
 Ground compaction
 Jump operation
 Exciter frequency
 Oscillation amplitude
The loss-free data transmission from the sensor to
the evaluation electronics is essential for the
precision of the indicated compaction data. For
this purpose VCC®- Völkel Compaction Control
has assembled the acceleration sensor and the
processor for evaluation on one circuit board and
in one compact housing.
The calculated compaction data are transferred
from the ASC sensor digitally by CAN bus,
Power supply: UB = 8 ... 32V,
therefore also loss-free, with a cable to the display reverse pole
in the operator's cab. protection
This innovative concept offers additional
Current
advantages: several sensors can be utilized at the consumption: Approx. 80 mA at 12V
same time for compaction measurement, e.g. at ASC - technical data
Microcontroller: XC164 with 128kbytes
the bandage and at a vibration plate, with tandem flash, 40 MHz
rollers at both bandages. Data memory: 32 kbytes RAM
Parameter memory: 64 kbits EEPROM
The sensor ASC is delivered completely with a
Interface: CAN
connecting cable (5m) and a connector plug.
