Boutique Management Course Syllabus

Course Overview

This Boutique Management Course helps develop the knowledge of the boutique or outlet and
arrangement of resources as per the space and customer profile. This Boutique Management Course will
also help to develop the ability to independently interpret the relationship between design, fabric, market,
color and figures because we are one of the Top Fashion Designing Institute in the City . You will be also
able to make patterns of blouses, skirts, salwar, kameez, different types of tops etc. Also you will be
learning the concepts of marketing and customer handling.

UNIT-I

 Fashion Design and Illustration


 Colors wheel with warm colors.
 Colours (theory)
 Primary, Secondary and tertiary colors.
 Fabric painting.
 Monochromatic colours, Polychromatic colours, Complimentary colours, Achromatic colours, Cool
colours, Warm colours, Tints/shades/tones.
 Basic prints and applications

UNIT-II

 Garment construction & Pattern making


 Introduction to pattern making, terminology, tools and equipment’s
 Introduction to sewing machines, types and their parts–functions
 Introduction to measurement and its importance
 Fabric preparation for garment construction, principles of layout
 Drafting of basic bodice, skirts and sleeve
 Introduction to sewing techniques likes seams, tucks, pleats, gathers and fasteners
 Different types of Necklines, Collars, Sleeves, Pockets, Placket, Finishes

 Introduction to textile and yarn


 Classification of Yarn fiber
 Fabric construction
 Stain removal using different solution
 Tie-dye process
 Block printing

Course Evaluation

All assignments will be graded upon the scheduled completion of the assignment and a grade will be given for
each project. All problems will be evaluated on the following criteria: creative, original approach to solving the
problem, clearly expressed final product, strong craftsmanship in constructing the art works, and completion of
the project on a scheduled due date.

Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:

Create properly composed, well balanced 2-dimensional designs using various materials.
Effectively use the visual elements in a composition and apply the principles of design for stronger, more
creative and effective 2-dimensional artwork.
Identify and recognize a well-crafted piece of art.
Be aware of various art movements and concepts through exposure to various artists and their works.
Acquire a basic knowledge of art terminology to express their ideas verbally.
