RJ TESTING & INSPECTION SDN. BHD. was established in 2015, with its head office in Singapore and two
(2) regional offices in Malaysia.

We are an independent Testing & Inspection organization. Our company primarily focuses on engineering
inspection services with special emphasis in the NDT sector. RJ caters to a wide range of industries
including the oil, gas, energy, power, offshore and marine sector, petrochemical and nuclear.

Radiography Testing

Radiographic testing (RT) is the method of


inspecting materials for hidden flaws by using the
ability of short wavelength electromagnetic
radiation (high energy photons) to penetrate
various materials. The radiographic film detects
the radiation and measures the various quantities
of radiation received over the entire surface of the
film. Discontinuities in the material affect the
amount of radiation being received by the film
through that particular plane of the material.
Radiography can be used on most materials and
product form, e.g. welds, casting, composite.

Magnetic Particle Testing


Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) is a versatile
inspection used for field and shop applications.
Magnetic Particle Testing works by magnetizing a
ferromagnetic specimen using a magnet or special
magnetizing equipment. If the specimen has
discontinuity, the magnetic field flowing through
the specimen is interrupted and leakage field
occur. Finely milled iron particle coated with a dye
pigment are applied to the specimen. These are
attracted to leakage fields and cluster to form an
indication directly over the discontinuity.
Magnetic Particle Testing can detect both surface
and near subsurface indications. MT can inspect
parts with irregular shapes easily. Pre-cleaning is
not as critical as for some other inspection
methods. Fast method of inspection and
indication are visible directly on the specimen
surface.

Dye Penetrant Testing

Dye Penetrant Testing (PT) is based on the


properties of capillary action or the phenomenon
of a liquid rising or climbing when confined to a
small opening due to surface wetting property of
the liquid. Dye Penetrant Testing is used for
finding surface breaking discontinuities on
relatively smooth, non-porous surfaces. Used on a
wide range of material types, large areas or large
volume of parts/materials can be inspected
rapidly and at low cost. Part with complex
geometries can be inspected easily. Indications
are produced directly on the surface of the part
providing a visual image of the anomaly. Aerosol
spray can make equipment very portable.

Ultrasonic Testing

Ultrasonic Testing (UT) introduces beams of high


frequency sound into the piece. The sound
reflected at material interfaces is analyzed to define
the presence and location of discontinuities. Angle
beam ultrasonic flaw detection is used to inspect
welds using shear wave mode of transmission to
detect welding discontinuities such as linear defects
and volumetric defects. High penetrating power
which allow the detection of flaws deep in the part.
High sensitivity permitting the detection of
extremely small flaws. Only one surface need be
accessible. Greater accuracy than other non-
destructive methods in determining the depth of
internal flaws and the thickness of parts with
parallel surfaces. Some device capable of
estimating the size, orientation, shape and nature
of defects.

Ferritscope

The FERITSCOPE ® FMP30 is used to measure the


ferrite content in the weld part and parent
material by the magnetic induction method. A
magnetic field generated by a coil enters into
interaction with the magnetic components of the
specimen. The changes in the magnetic field
induce a voltage proportional to the ferrite
content in a second coil. This voltage is then
evaluated.

Ultrasonic Thickness Gauging (UTG)


UTG ultrasonically measures the wall thickness of
materials such as steel, plastic and also the metal
thickness of a painted structure without having to
remove the coating. It is ideal for measuring the
effects of corrosion or erosion on tanks, pipes or
any structure where access is limited to one side.

Annual/Intermediate Survey. Condition
Assessment Program (CAP). Survey Condition
Assessment Scheme (CAS) Survey. Transfer of Class
(TOC) Survey. Owner’s Requirement Survey.

Positive Material Identification

Positive Material Identification (PMI) provides


allow chemistry and grade ID information
instantly using a handheld tube-based analyzer
without having to transport, alter or damage the
material. PMI is also used to ensure that the
parent material in vessel and pipe spools is
composed of the correct composition and once
the component is welded the correct filler
material was used.

EDDY Current Inspection

In Eddy Current Testing, a circular coil carrying


current is placed in proximity to the test specimen.
The alternating current in the coil generates
changing magnetic field which interacts with the
test specimen and generates eddy current.
Variations in the phase and magnitude of these
eddy currents and variations in the electrical
conductivity or magnetic permeability of the test
specimen or the presence of any flaws will cause
change in eddy current and a corresponding
change in the phase and amplitude of the
measured current. Sensitive to small cracks and
other defects, Eddy Current Inspection can detect
surface and near surface defects. Inspection gives
immediate result. Eddy Current equipment is very
portable. Method can be used for much more than
flaw detection. Minimum part preparation is
required. Test probe does not need to contact the
part.

Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT)

Phased arrays Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) is a novel technique for generating, receiving and imaging
ultrasound. PAUT use multiple ultrasonic elements and electronic time delays to create beams by
constructive and destructive interference. As such, it offers significant technical advantages for weld
testing and plant monitoring over conventional ultrasonic as phased array beams can be steered,
scanned, swept and focused electronically from a fixed probe position. Beam steering permits the
selected beam angles to be optimized ultrasonically by orienting or focusing them perpendicular to
the predicted discontinuities. Phased array allows real-time control of three important ultrasonic
probe parameters: Focal distance & beam angle (continuously and dynamically adjustable), focal
spot size (dynamically adjustable). High speed inspection using single-axis scans instead of
conventional raster scan.

Pre-Heating / Post Weld Treatment
The services we offer includes Pre-Heating / Post Weld Treatment (PWHT). Welding is a fundamental
process in all manufacturing and engineering industries. While welding is a simple solution to many
complex problems, the process isn’t always over once the heat subsides. In many cases, just stopping
there can cause undue stress on the finished product leading to waste and potentially unsafe
equipment. In these instances, pre heating (PH) a post weld heat treatment (PWHT) may be required
to complete the job efficiently and safely.

Normalizing/ Annealing and High Temp Heat Treatment

Normalizing annealing and solution heat treatment to a


maximum temperature of 1,100⁰C are performed using
specially fabricated kanthal D Type Heating element in
association with low thermal mass insulation. The heating
can be performed by localized heating methods or by the
use of the heaters within temporary or permanent furnace
installations. Furnaces of any size can be quickly erected
and fired to suite your applications at site using the modular
panel technique.

Gas Furnace Firing

A gas forced-air heating system goes into action when the thermostat tells it that the room
temperature has dropped below a preset comfort level. The thermostat sends a low-voltage electrical
signal to a relay in the furnace, which signals a valve to open and deliver natural gas to the burners and
for the blower to turn on. The furnace’s pilot light or electronic ignition lights the burner inside the
combustion chamber. This creates heat in the furnace’s heat exchanger, a metal chamber around which
the moving air flows.

Once warmed, the air is pushed into the hot-air plenum and then out to the rooms through duct work.
The combustion gases created by burning fuel are vented through a flue in the roof or, with high-
efficiency furnaces, through a wall.

One of the benefits of a forced-air system is that it can receive a whole-house air-conditioning unit, a
humidifier, and an electronic air filter—all of which can take advantage of the furnace’s air handler and
ducts for delivery of conditioned air to rooms. Duct work is generally metal wrapped with insulation or
a flexible plastic-wrapped insulated material that helps retain heat.
