Ted Talk video from Michael D. Burroughs at Penn State University.

An everyday ethicist is an individual who specializes in or writes on ethics or one who is

committed to ethical principles. Furthermore, everyday ethicists can be discovered in our homes,

streets, and schools, and it can be our friends or family members. I am an everyday ethicist

because I can differentiate between what is right and wrong. Moreover, ethics help individuals

distinguish values such as honesty and integrity and apply them in our everyday lives. Ethics

influences one's behavior and allows an individual to make acceptable choices and decisions.

In the contemporary world, ethics in education has been dramatically emphasized, so no

learner can afford to lose this in the classroom. Teaching ethical issues in the classroom arms

learners both in middle school and high school with the knowledge and skills required to make

virtuous resolutions in their daily lives. For instance, teaching ethics ins schools introduces

learners to faulty rationalization. Ethical discussions permit learners to comprehend the risks of

flawed rationalization and prepares them excellently to tackle external challenges they face in

their lives. On the other hand, case studies and scenarios introducing ethical cases introduce

learners to both the right and wrong ethical decisions and develop high critical thinking skills.

Moreover, this discussion on the essence of ethics is crucial since it offers ways to deal with an

individual's ethical issues every day. Some ethical problems include unethical leadership, toxic

work environment, and students' bullying in schools. An individual with excellent ethical

behavior will acceptably deal with these ethical issues, while an unethical individual is likely to

do the unacceptable. This discussion should also be introduced in the college curriculum since it

will help students acquire ethical decision-making skills essential in their career development.

Therefore, it is necessary to introduce moral teaching in middle school, high school, and college

to develop the right ethical skills.
