Procedure Text

 The Definition of Procedure Text


Procedure text is text that contains the means, goals to make or do something with the
right step by step sequentially so as to produce a desired goal. Procedure text is usually found in
writing that contains ways, tips or tutorials to take certain steps. In the procedure text, there is an
imperative word or command word to do what is discussed so that the reader does what the text
is ordered to do in the content.
- For example, you are looking for writing on how to whiten a face via the internet, now in
the text there will be a way or steps for how to whiten a face so that it produces the pure
white you want. The method is presented as a step-by-step sequence so that the reader is
able to follow the tutorial presented.
In text procedures, the content of the writing is always connected from beginning to end
and other content contains descriptions so that it is easy for the reader to implement.

 The Purpose of Procedure Text


Procedure text aims to make it easier for both readers and listeners to be able to follow
steps or commands from the content of the text whose final goal can be according to the wishes
of the reader and listener.

 The Structure of Procedure Text


- Purpose
The purpose of the procedural text is a general introduction as a marker of what to do or
to do and the motivation for doing it.
- Tools and Materials
Contains details of the materials and tools used with accurate measurements.
- Steps
Contains steps to do something in order by stage.
- Closing
Contains an emphasis on profit and congratulations on doing something.
 The Characteristics of Procedure Text
1. Using imperative sentence patterns.
A command sentence is a sentence that implies asking / ordering someone to do
something. Example:
1. Please turn off the water tap!
2. Don't make a fuss, girls!
3. I ask to do your assignment on time!

2. Using active verbs.


A verb that gives an action to the object for example:
1. Flush
2. Wrap
3. Throw and others

3. Using conjunctions (conjunctions) to sort activities.


A liaison that states the time the activity is present and is chronological. Example:
1. Next
2. Then
3. After that

4. Use adverbs to state the details of the time, place and accurate manner.
The point is to add or provide information on other words. Example:
1. Mother sliced turnip with a sharp knife.
2. Intan watering the flowers with her water tank.
3. I have to go to uncle's house now.
- There are goals, steps and conclusions.
- Using imperative sentences or command sentences so that readers can follow what is
ordered in a text.
- Use conjunctive sentences so that the beginning and the end of the text are related.
- Use direct and indirect sentences.
- Use sentences of advice and restrictions.
- Using certain criteria or limitations.
- Use adverbs.
- Contains information.
- Contains detailed steps
- Using the -i and -kan ending, for example, don't forget to always flush the i-i flowers
every day, tossing the ball up.

Example 1:
How to Use an Electric Stove

1. If you want to cook with an electric stove, maybe something simple or simple like
making fried rice and sautéing.
2. To make fried rice with an electric stove, before the stove is evenly heated, you should
put the skillet on the stove that is being heated first, so that when the rice is ready to be
cooked, it doesn't take too long to wait for the rice to be cooked, and preferably when the
pan is cooking. Not yet hot, don't take the rice from the rice cooker or from the pan
where the rice is cooked, you should take the rice when the pan is perfectly hot, then you
put in the spices and then you take enough rice to be cooked.
3. If you want to make rending or cakes, you should not use an electric stove, it's better to
use a gas stove or an oil stove, if you use an electric stove it won't change the taste or
taste of the dish, but the duration of cooking with an electric stove is different from that.
Stoves - ordinary stoves, which heat up very quickly, this electric stove must first wait
evenly to heat on a round iron shaped like a mosquito repellent.

Example 2:
How to Make Fried Eggs

Ingredients:
1. 1 egg
2. Salt
3. Cooking oil or butter

Tool:
1. Stove
2. Wok or Teflon
3. Spatula
4. The plate

How to make:
1. Turn on the fire to medium size
2. Put the skillet or Teflon on the stove, add the cooking oil and wait until it's hot
3. Crack and pour the contents of the egg in the pan
4. Add salt to taste
5. Turn with a spatula and wait for it to cook
6. Drain briefly and then place on a plate. And the beef eye egg is ready to be served

Example 3:
How to Make Sweet Tea

Material:
1. 1 teabag
2. Sugar
3. Warm water

Tool:
1. Glass
2. Teaspoon

How to make:
1. Put your desired amount of warm water into the glass
2. Put in the teabag and wait for the water to change color
3. Add enough sugar and stir until the sugar dissolves
4. The tea is ready to be served
