Strength:-
Hunger by the consumers of quality as well as health consciousness
in the food specially confessionary segments:-There are several food
products are available in the market that’s look good ,have a good taste
but somehow they have lake of nutrients especially chocolates. Consumer
are now a days very health conscious specially people from urban area .
They regularly check what there product contains in which they are making
investment. Bourneville matches all the requirements since it’s a perfect
combination of ingredients. People looking for health benefits can easily
eat without hesitations. Secondly Now a days consumers are looking for
some customized ingredients that’s should be available or sometime not
such as gluten , no meat or egg for vegetarian as well as they are looking
to the different packaging available for different occasions. such as Diwali ,
social gathering , valentine-day etc. Bourneville matching this requirements
in a proper way they have chocolates for each type of consumers as well
as for different occasions to attract customers.
Weakness:-
Less market size and competitions:- With the advancement in the
technology and machinery and chocolate making process , now a days its
easy to make chocolate , what you need is cocoa beans and other
ingredients, and that’s It’s your are done . That
Kind of behavior in the chocolate market is causing lots of competitions as
well as low market share for Bourneville. Apart form that the Cost of
advertisements for Bourneville is much as compare to other products of
Cadbury and net revenue is less , since making the dark chocolate is
costly and the product have less market share due to distribution between
rivals.
Opportunity:-
New segments and market:- Right now Cadbury Bourneville is targeting
everyone stating from 5 yr. old children to 50 yr. old person . but in future
Bourneville can target different business such as B2B where different
corporates can be target. Because there is huge demand of chocolates at
a time of product pitching, project completion parties and gathering ,
products launching etc. in this occasions Bourneville can make there
signature by providing customized chocolates according to the corporates
and clients.
Threat:-
Future of cocoa production:- generally the genuine dark chocolate is
made from fine cocoa .but to produce this cocoa is required a good seed ,
good care of the crop as well as nourishments and patience. That causes
increase the cost as well as the producer sometime unable to produce in
a required quantity and quality. That causes to demotivate the farmers
and since they sometime stop to produce that hampers the supply chain of
the dark chocolate.
Market Force analysis of Bourneville:-
o Competitive rivals :- Considering the Indian market there are
several rivals are available of Bourneville such as Amul dark
chocolate is the biggest rival Hershey's Special Dark, Godiva ,
Chocoville Compound Chocolate etc are some of them. Apart from
that considering the Indian audience they tend to more focus on
traditional sweets such as barfi , jalebi etc.ony a small segment used
to buy chocolate in occasions such as Diwali ,holi etc.If we now
discuss about normal chocolate this also work as a rival for dark
chocolate and majority of the confessionary consist of normal
chocolate.
o Threat of substitute :- Since there are lots of substitutes available
in the market and the market share of dark chocolate is also very
low then customers tend to move easily from one product to another
if that product met their requirements in a low cost. People now a
days also a bit health conscious and they want something that
contains less sugar and fat so they tend to go in the traditional
sweets also. That also cut a significant share of dark chocolate if we
look in to the overall market of dark chocolate.
o Customer power:- Customer not tend to negotiate in the price
since the targeted market is upper to upper middle class . But they
are kind of health conscious and want the chocolate in customized
manner. Apart from that they tend to focus on packaging also like
how the products is packaged and that paly a crucial part to retain
customers in case of dark chocolate. So for different- different
occasions , companies came with different packing .

manufacturing process , now a days its easy to create dark
chocolate with efficient manner . And availability of transport also
plays a major part to producing a dark chocolate. Since the capital
required is also not much and labour cost is also low its easy to
enter in to the chocolate market and there is no strict barrier in
confessionary industry . So there is always dilemma of competition
in that market which cause less net revenue for a company.
o Suppliers power:- The main suppliers of the dark chocolate is
cocoa farmers. Since these refine chocolate made from high quality
cocoa beans and its very difficult to produce these with proper
quality. That means there is always demand for the cocoa that tends
to high price inflation and the end product cause less revenue.
