This morning we are going to discuss about the functions of communication. At the end of the lesson, you
are expected to:
a. Identify the functions of communication;
b. Differentiate the functions of communication;
c. Formulate statements showing examples of each of the functions of communication.

Why do we communicate?
Do:
Solicit students’ responses and process each.
E. Activity
DO:
Show pictures to the students.
Have them say something about each picture.
F. Analysis
ASK:
What is the purpose or role of communication in each picture?
G. Abstraction
DO:
Discuss the five functions of communication and give examples for each.
H. Application/ Evaluation
Do:
Have the students identify the functions of communication in each of the following:
1. A teacher giving the class rules and regulations
2. A student introduces his friend to his classmates
3. A student delivering a valedictory address
4. A news reporter giving a news about the upcoming storm
5. A boy telling his friend about his frustrations and disappointments.
