Zoo Should Not Be Abolished

Zoos should not be abolished because they provide important benefits to both animals and humans. For animals, zoos offer protection and preservation of endangered species through conservation education, scientific research, and breeding programs. They rehabilitate wildlife and take in exotic pets. For humans, zoos educate the public and children about biodiversity in a memorable way through firsthand experience seeing live animals. While animal welfare should continue improving, overall zoos play a vital role in species protection that outweighs the disadvantages of captivity.

Zoo should not be abolished = zoo tidak boleh dimansuhkan

Zoos provide shelter, food and hygienic conditions for the animals to live in.

if these animals are kept in the Zoo, they would be safe from having to be alert 24/7 of their
surroundings in order to stay safe and secure.

E.g;

Singapore Zoos where animals are kept mostly in the open and among the same kinds of species
including water animals such as dolphins, and with an environment that is just like the one that they
have in the actual habitat, I would still say that keeping animals in Zoos is not a bad idea if, all the Zoos
around the world are changed into a similar one such as the Singapore Zoo. Another thing is that the
Zoo is a first hand source of education as we can, ourselves go and see them at the Zoo.

Zoos should not be banned Seeing an animal in person is a much more personal and memorable
experience than seeing an animal in a nature documentary. Kids love zoos because they enjoy
admiring the unusual animals and learning interesting facts about those animals. A good app provides
an enriched habitat where the animals are never bored, Well cared for and have lots of space.

They keep the animals in a safe enclosure and most zoos don't make animals do tricks anymore. Also,
Most of the animals that are in the zoos have either lived in captivity their whole life or were brought
to captivity to be saved. The zoos don't take the animals out of the wild they are typically traded
amongst other zoos and caretakers of the animals. Yes seeing animals in zoos are amusing and fun to
watch and learn about but the money that people pay to go see them mainly goes towards the
animals. This money helps pay for their vet checks and helps support their food supply. Everything zoos
do is to help the animals not just use them for entertainment. Everyone can think what they want, But
until you actually get a job and work at a zoo don't decide that they are not trying to help. The people
who say zoos are bad for the animals are making people who are working at the zoo and trying to help
them, Sound like bad people. I get that everyone has opinions but zoos are not a prison. The animals
are not kept behind bars are they? No! They are fed and watered and they are normally in good health
because people care. Some of the animals we have today would have been extinct if we didn't have
zoos to help repopulate then. Think about the animals you think you are trying to save by saying that
zoos are bad, And then think about the animals that have been saved by zoos that are here.

zoos provide helpful habitats for the animals and therefore, zoos are essential for the preservation of
precious animals. Therefore, zoos should not be abolished because they are beneficial not only for
animals but also for humans.

Actually, there are more benefits than disadvantages. First, zoos are slowly changed to support animal
rights. For example, the first zoos were created as private collections to called menageries, and they
were more like a circus. However, modern zoos are meant to entertain and used to educate the public.
(chinadaily, 2013) Second, zoos place emphasizes on scientific research and species conservation and
giving animals more space and recreating natural habitats. Zoos help rehabilitate wildlife and take in
exotic pets that people no longer want or are no longer able to care for. Also, zoos preserve wild
animals and protect endangered animals.(animalsrights, 2013) Third, children could see various
animals that are from faraway lands that they might not be able to travel to and even if they do get a
chance they might not be able to see those animals. Seeing an animal in person is a much more
personal and more memorable experience than seeing that animal in a nature documentary.
(freemalaysiatoday, 2013) In my opinion, to make better zoos for animals, the zoo animals need larger
areas and the freedom to roam, as well as more mental stimulation and overall more attention. Also,
make more zoos to accommodate more animals and protect more endangered animals.

I am convinced that we could make better environments for animals by improving living conditions for
all its animals. What if the species becomes extinct in the wild? Extinction is a tragedy. It is a tragedy
from an environmental standpoint because other species may suffer and because it may indicate an
environmental problem such as loss of wild habitat or climate change. Lastly, Marc Bekoff, Professor
Emeritus of Ecology at the University of Colorado said, “It is important to remember that when
humans choose to use animals, the animals invariably have no say in these decisions. They cannot give
their consent. Animals depend on our goodwill and mercy. They depend on humans to have their best
interests in mind.”(freemalaysiatoday, 2013)

In conclusion, a zoo is a place where animals live in captivity and are put on display for people to view.
There are lots of animals which are protected by human’s hand. From an animal rights standpoint, we
do not have a right to breed, capture and confine other animals, even if they are endangered. Being a
member of an endangered species doesn’t mean the individual animals have fewer rights. Also, zoos
are good because they provide education and entertainment to the people. Thus, for both the animals
and the people zoos should not be abolished.

Zoos are famous places of recreation for all ages. Inside the zoos are different animals in makeshift
habitats that have been imitated from where animals truly live in the wild. For this reason alone, many
animal rights advocates call for the banning of zoos because of how it deprives animals from living lives
in the wild; where they should actually be. For people who regularly go to the zoos, this is not enough
reason because the zoo, as a social space, is already tightly woven to the urban dynamics of the city
anchored on recreation. For them, a zoo is a park that offers more especially for families and children.
With this mind, it is important to take into consideration a grey area where animal rights advocates
would be able to compromise banning of the zoos into an agreement that would be more favorable to
the recreational spaces of the city. In light of this, it is important to see the alternatives that are
present when it comes to giving animals in the zoo a better life than the seemingly oppressive
experiences they have in confined spaces.

One important to consider is the regulation of zoos and how this is done by a city’s parks and
recreation department. It is a well-known fact that zoos are very confining especially for wild animals.
The same goes for how being subjected to public scrutiny is an unhealthy experience for the animals.
With this, it is important to open the idea that wild animals should be prevented from staying in zoos,
for their own well-being. If this cannot be prevented; a more comfortable environment should be
dedicated to animals in zoos. If this is not followed by zookeepers and the authorities that regulate
zoos, this is when banning should be taken into consideration.
In the perspective of the public, zoos are not completely deemed as evil spaces. For children, zoos are
a place of entertainment and fun where they can actual witness animals as if they are in the wild. Here
is where the problem lies; awareness should also be nourished amongst children regarding the state of
zoos. Through this, probably a better regulation among zoos will achieved that would be beneficial to
all parties involved.

One of the main reasons why the discourse on banning zoos is still not yet talked about that much is
because zoos have already established their social space and actual space within both rural and urban
demographics. People perceive zoos as part of their schema: a zoo is a place that would always be
readily available to them and the idea of banning zoos still seem to be a far-off idea. With this being
said, the idea of banning zoos completely will never be off the table. It is true that some zoos do not
treat animals fairly and these are the zoos that should be closed down in order to encourage other city
zoos to not do the same.

Children’s experiences will never be complete without going to amusement park or the zoo. Maybe it’s
high time to put an innovation towards the functionalities of zoos at present time. Maybe there are
ways with which zoos would be friendly to both visitors and animals. Alternatives would always be
welcome in order to ensure that animals in captivities are not deprived of the life they should be
having. Aside from this, the process of acquiring animals should also be overseen in order to prevent
any mishandling that would badly affect the state and condition of animals and zoos. Lastly, the clamor
of animal rights advocates would only be called for and hopefully in the future, there would no longer
be worrying about the welfare of animals in zoos.

1. We like them. 2. They help protect endangered species. 3. They are a great place for people to gain a
firsthand appreciation for the divine beauty of nature? 4. With that appreciation people will be more
inclined to care for our beautiful earth.

Additional Info: Zoos have research programs that help expand our knowledge about animals,
especially the endangered species. The information gained by these programs can help protect, and
treat the species in the wild, as well as determine what affects if any climate change may have on the
regions needed for the species to flourish.

Many zoos also have breeding programs for all kinds of species, endangered or not, and learn even
more about the species during the breeding, and rearing process. All this knowledge and information is
shared with visitors, organizations, and other programs alike. There are certainly zoos that do nothing
but display animals, but so many have broadened their exhibit goals, and expanded their species scope
of responsibility, that each zoo really needs to be judged on it’s own merits.

Zoos should not be banned because they help endangered species, give people experiences of a life
time and they is a hole lot more reasons and I could goon for ages but I won’t. So please stay with Zoos
should NOT be banned.

1) They protect indangered animals from around the world.

2) They let people that want to see animals in other contries see them!

3. exotic animals can be seen.

4. poached animals are safe.

5. save animals from extinction

In the past few years, a lot of controversy has been going on about whether zoos should be banned or
not. Zoos should not be banned as they play a major role in preventing the extinction of some of the
species help and in the protection of the animals. “In 1962 a campaign to catch three of the last living
Arabic Oryx served to begin a breeding project at the Phoenix Zoo in Arizona.”[1] Some associations
are claiming that zoos should be banned because it’s having negative impact on the animals. They
reject the idea that zoos are made to preserve some species from extinction. Their argument is that if
zoos were really made for that solely purpose then the species in the zoos will not be kept for public
viewing. These associations propose…show more content…

Zoos are a dynamic educational source that enhances our community. Zoos raise awareness about
jeopardized species and the significance of preservation. Zoos may help us to comprehend animals.
They offer a good tool for our societies by lodging and dealing with creatures that may have been in
peril at one point in their life. “100,000 kids come to London Zoo every year to learn about
creatures.”[3] Usually when people come to zoos and they are taught about the conservation of some
of the endangered species, a lot of these people get motivated and inspired to do something about it
either by donating money or volunteering to help and so on. Zoos provide protection for animals.
Some hunters may kill animals in the wild for their skin so they can sell it. In a zoo, this can never occur.
Another reason that zoos should not be banned is that animals are really looked after in the zoo.
