DPMO SigmaTable

This table provides information about defects per million opportunities (DPMO) levels corresponding to different process sigma levels. It shows that higher sigma levels, such as 5-6, correspond to very low DPMO levels (3.4-66,807) and yield rates over 99%. Lower sigma levels, such as 1-2, equate to much higher DPMO levels (500,000-1,056,650) and yield rates below 93%. The table is a reference for process quality engineers to understand how improved sigma performance can drastically reduce defects.

Note:
The above table tells how many DPMO (defects per million opportunity) correspond to what level of process sigma.
The yield number is just a percent representation of "good output" from the process. So at 233 defects in a million opportunities, your good output yield is(1-233/10^6)*100 = 99.977%
The calculations assume a long term shift of 1.5 Sigma http://www.6sigmagroup.com
