    SPEAKERS BACKGROUND.

    Ar. Aimee Roslan is an Architect and Project Manager at Asas Reka Arkitek Sdn. Bhd., and
    the Principal Consultant of Aimee Roslan Atelier. Ar. Aimee graduated from the University
    of Plymouth, United Kingdom (UK) with Master of Architecture in 2012, and upon returning
    to Malaysia has worked as a Project Architect at Veritas Architects Sdn. Bhd. and Design
    Architect at Pakatan Reka Arkitek Sdn. Bhd. Ar. Aimee has been modelling commercially
    since the age of 16 and also a fashion designer.

    Raised and spent years living abroad in Japan and the United Kingdom, Ar. Aimee has
    developed interests in research within the built industry and has been invited to speak at
    international forums and conferences, including Union of International Architects (UIA)
    World Architects Congress, Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA) Forum, and Kuala
    Lumpur Architecture Festival (KLAF). Her scientific invention, AR Index: Forecasting Building
    Design Resilience via Architectural Parameters & RS Chart in collaboration with Kumpulan
    Ikram Sdn. Bhd. (IKRAM) has made her a medalist at the 28th International Invention &
    Innovation Exhibition (ITEX) in 2017.

    Ar. Aimee has given lectures and being an external examiner in relation to issues
    within the building industry as well as statutory laws including at Pertubuhan Arkitek
    Malaysia (PAM) events, Be:AR Seminar Series, Mara University of Technology, Taylor's
    University, City University, and Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL).

    SYNOPSIS / LEARNING OUTCOME.

    SEMINAR ON HOUSING DEVELOPMENT ACT 1966 (ACT 118) & REGULATIONS

    An Act to provide for the control and licensing of the business of housing development in
    Peninsular Malaysia, the protection of the interest of purchasers with proper processes by
    local government agency and for matters connected therewith.

    There have been many issues recently in the housing development scenario in Malaysia with
    the rising numbers of residential properties and land zoning allocated under the authorities’
    gazetted Local Plans.

    The construction industry headlines have never been absent from the complaints such as
    rights of the contracting parties under the Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA), premature
    delivery of Vacant Possession (VP), false advertising, and other matters within the subject of
    the Housing Development Act 1966 (Act 118) & Regulations.

    The one-day seminar organised by the Construction Inspector of Work Association Malaysia
    (COWAM) is intended towards understanding the content of Act 118 & its Regulations, and
    to raise the awareness with regards to the rights, roles and responsibilities of the involved
    parties in housing developments; from housing developers, purchasers, consultants, site
    staffs, contractors, to sales and marketing agents.
