Mechatronics Engineering and be a part of the betterment of my country

I want to pursue my M.Sc in Mechatronics Engineering with research focused on industrial automation.
I wanted to do specialize in Mechatronics Engineering because back in my school days, whenever I read
Physics it always fascinates me and pushed me to do it practically. So, I started doing small projects like
making a motor fan, water boat, etc from the small resources I have back then. This interest of mine brings
me to Mechanical Engineering of UET, Lahore. During this 4 year journey. I along with my semester study
started doing side projects and was giving 3-4 hours of mine to these projects. I made an impact of the jet
apparatus, hydraulic pump, calculated vibration in the handle, seat and engine of the Honda CD 70 by using
a mobile phone gyroscope, design gears for different speeds.
But I started developing interest in the automation once I started my job. I hired as a Mechanical Engineer
in a medical instrument-making factory. Here, I see that quality matters a lot on precision, even value in
microns of meter matter. Precision matter on everything from machining speed, feed, the temperature
during different processes. In Pakistan, a small businessman cannot afford and import highly expensive
automated machines. So, I started researching this project. To do the automation of machines, I started
taking You tube lectures and online courses every day for 3-4 hours after my office time. Currently, I am
working on upgrading degreasing machine design, automation of manual milling machines.
During this whole project, I realize the worth of automation for any country that is striving to achieve
excellence. From a day of start, I promised myself to do an M.Sc in Mechatronics Engineering from the best
university in the world. And after acquiring and gaining all the required knowledge and skills, I will come
back to my country and will impart this knowledge to others and take part in its betterment and prosperity.
By collaboration with the government, we will start a small research center where we will develop all the
automated machines in Pakistan and will train different Engineers from all over Pakistan.

I am Muhammad Ali. I belong to one of the backward areas of South Punjab. I started my journey at a local
school. I always remain a bright student throughout my career doesn't matter if it belongs to study,
extra-curricular or co-curricular activity. I was a captain of the high school cricket team, I won a speech
competition twice, I had maintained a record of getting 1st position throughout my high school career, I
won a certificate for the most punctual student during high school.
One thing, I still feel was a lack of guidance and resources, during my high school. I only knew about one
university back then, in whom I ended up getting an admission. I was unfamiliar with any foreign
scholarship at that time. I was the only student from my city who secure admission in UET, Lahore which is
one of the top public university of the country. Being from a backward area, it was difficult at the start for
me to come to a big city and adjust to its environment. But I manage to get through it. I started making new
friends along with achieving new milestones in my academics.
I want others not to go through the same situation through which I pass. So, I along with some other fellows
make a society by the platform of which we started giving career counseling to juniors. Moreover, I also
joined an academy where I started teaching students from backward areas, along with teaching I was also
giving them career counseling. I actively started taking part in different social works along with my
academics, this social work helps a lot in gaining confidence in my personality.
At the end of my 4 years journey, I was among the top 20 students of the department. I cleared the technical
tests of every company and was promoted to the next stage of the recruitment. But luckily I managed to get
a job in none of them because most of them were managerial ones and my wish was to get a technical job.
In the end, I secured a job in a local company and I was happy because no other company will have an
environment where you will do work on the grass-root level.
Here, I started working on the automation of machines and it is the place that arouses my interest in
robotics and automation. Being a Mechanical Engineer having no background in automation, I started
taking online courses for programming. I am currently working on enhancing my programming skills.
