Assemblies Assignment PDF
This assignment focuses on assembling components in Autodesk Fusion 360. The objective of the
assignment is to construct the lower frame assembly of an automotive seat with the supplied
components. When the assembly joints are applied the seat pan can be raised and lowered by adjusting
the ball screw drive motors mounted on the frame.
Provided Items
To start the assignment, you are provided with Autodesk Inventor part (IPT) and assembly files (IAM) in
a ZIP file. The video Assignment Instructions.mp4 reviews the placement and relationships of the
components to assist you in assembling the lower frame. Using the supplied files, you build the
assembly then adjust the height position of the power seat.
Deliverable
When the main assembly is complete you provide an Autodesk Fusion 360 (f3d) file of the assembly in
the lowered position. Adjust the seat height position using the setup dimensions listed below.
Measure the distance from the center of the back hole as noted below and the bottom face of the seat
rail track for each setup.

VALUE
1. Use the following naming convention or the standards set by your instructor:
• Surname_Firstname_CarSeat.f3d
Grading
Grading for this problem set will be based on the following elements:
• 85% - A working assembly that is properly grounded, where components do not
interfere when the joint animation is active.
• 10% - Correctly identify the values for the raised and lowered positions.
• 5% - Dragging the lever as shown animates the assembly and raises and lowers the seat
assembly.
Tips
1. Upload the assembly files (IAM) individually and add all files with a similar number. For example,
2012-2-3001.iam and all part files with the number 2012-2-30XX.ipt.
2. Start a new design then save the design.
3. Use Insert into Current Design to place the car seat components in the design.

4. Create rigid groups of sub-assemblies immediately after they are inserted into the design. This
must be done for sub-assemblies 2012-2-3001 and 2102-2-4001 to maintain the position of the
levers.
5. Only the height of the seat has to be adjustable. If the component or sub-assembly is not linked to
the motion of the seat the joints can be rigid.
