Future events can be expressed with either Simple Future Tense ( will ) or the ‘going to’
expression. Both of them express future events and actions but there is a small difference in
usage. The main difference lies in the probability of the event. For predictions, less probable
events, we use Simple Future and for already planned future events, we use ‘going to’IT is
generally used to express future intentions or plans or it is often used if we can see the
evidence of a future event. For example,
I don’t think it will rain. –> Look at those clouds! It’s going to rain very soon!
No creo que llueva / mira esas nubes ¡ va a llover muy pronto.!
Maybe the test will be easy this time. –> The teacher says the test is going to be very difficult
Quizas el test estará fácil esta vez / El profesor dice que el test va a estas muy
difícil!

Review the different future tense

1. SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE

The Future Simple Tense is the simplest ways to express a planned action in the future
. it is expressed by using the auxiliary verb ‘WILL’ which is followed by the first form of
the verb. The auxiliary verb implies that the action will take place in the future. You use
it with all personal pronouns. Into express negative plans , you need to combine the
auxiliary verb and ‘not’ to create the negative form. The short version of ‘WILL NOT’
IS ‘WON’T’. example.

Affirmative: Subject + will + verb in infinitive verb + complement

Deiisy will dance tango next week.
Deissy bailará tango la próxima semana
Negative: Subject + won’t / will not + infinitive verb
I won’t study for my exam tomorrow.
Yo no estudiaré para mi examen mañana.

Question: will + Subject + verb in infinitive verb + complement +?

Will you come to my wedding? Vendras a mi boda ?

Where will your cousin travel around?

2. EXPRESSING PLANNED ACTIONS WITH ‘GOING TO’

Planned actions in the future can be expressed by using the expression ‘going to’, as
well. However, ‘going to’ is not a tense. The full form of the expression is ‘to be going to’
where ‘to be’ needs to be conjugated according to the subject of the sentence. The
actual action verb stays in first form, following ‘going to’.

Affirmative: Subject + to be ( IS-ARE. AM ) + going to + Verb infinitive + comple

I am going to watch the movies later today
Yo voy a mirar las películas mas tarde hoy.

Negative: Subject + I’m not / isn’t / aren’t + going to + verb in infinitive

He isn´t going to run the Boston Marathon this year,

El no va a correr la Maraton de Boston este año.

Question: Am / is / are + S + going to + verb in infinitive + ?

Are you going to invite your mother-in-law for the baby shower?
Vas a invitar a tu suegra al baby-shower ¿

3. THE FUTURE PROGRESSIVE TENSE

indicates continuing action, something that will be happening, going on, at some point
in the future. This tense is formed with the modal "will" plus "be," plus the present
participle of the verb (with an -ing ending): "I will be running in next year's Boston
Marathon. Our campaign plans suggest that the President will be winning the southern
vote by November. "

Affirmative: Subject + will be + Verb +ing + complement

James will be cleaning the house at 8 o'clock tomorrow

James estará limpiando la casa a las 8 en punto mañana.

Negative: Subject + won´t be + Verb +ing + complement

We won´t be going to the disco on Saturday.
Nosotros no esteremos iendo a la disco el sábado.

Question: will+ Subject +be + Verb +ing + complement

Will He be studying psicology next year in Argentina?

Estará él estudiando psicologia en Argentina el próximo año ¿

4. THE FUTURE PERFECT PROGRESSIVE TENSE

El "future perfect continuous o progressive “está compuesto por dos elementos:
el "future perfect" del verbo "to be" (will have been) + el "present participle" del verbo
principal (raíz + ing)

examples

You will have been living there. / Tú habras estado viviendo allí
You won't have been living there ./ Tu no habras estado viviendo allí.
