COURSE POLICIES
Online Attendance Policy
Active participation/attendance is defined as logging into the course throughout the week, participating in online discussion
forums and completing and submitting required assignments, quizzes each week of the course. Thus, simply logging in does
not constitute attendance.
Students are solely responsible for checking updates through course announcement, forum and email.
Unexcused absences of more than 20% of the required number of course meetings are considered as ground for a failing grade.
In case of anticipated absence, students should contact the instructor in advance and make arrangement to complete the course
requirement.
In case of emergency (illness/Accident or death in family), students should contact the instructor as soon as possible providing
documentation supporting the need for any late submission of graded work.
Expectations from Students
Be self-starters – have the maturity and motivation to work independently
Participate actively in an online discussion
Complete required task in a timely manner
Observe “netiquette” or proper manner and behavior online
Academic Honesty
All academic works submitted to satisfy course requirements is expected to be the student’s OWN work. Cheating, lying and
other form of unethical behavior will not be tolerated.
Any student found guilty of cheating or plagiarism will receive an F or failing grade in the course.
Plagiarism refers to the use of books, notes or other intellectual property without giving proper attribution to its author or
representing the work of another person as one’s own.
Cheating refers to copying test, assignments, reports or term paper; collaborating with student during an examination or in
preparing academic work, signing another student’s name on an attendance sheet; or otherwise practicing scholastic
dishonesty.
