LEARNING OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, the pupils will be able to :
1. talk about the pictures in the book (I-Think).
2. understand independently the main ideas in simple
longer texts and predict answers by matching the
questions to the pictures( think.pair.share)
3. listen to the audio to match the Wh-Questions to the
appropriate picture.
4. keep interaction going in longer exchanges in pyramid
reflection.

ELEMENTS
ACTIVITIES : i)PRE-LESSON 1. Teacher draws 3 circle maps on the board.(I-Think Map)
2. Pupils write any words that are related to the three topics
mentioned (hobby, place, people)

ii) Lesson Development 1. Pupils look at the pictures and tell which circle map each
group of pictures will fit in.
2. Pupils read the Wh-Questions in section B and predict their
answers by matching the pictures in section A.
3. Pupils sit in pairs and give their reasons for choosing the
options.
4. Pupils share their answers to the class.
5. Pupils listen to the recording attentively and write the
correct answers in the box given in task B.
6. Pupils listen to the recording again to check their answers.
7. Teacher discusses the answers .
POST LESSON 1. Teacher conducts pyramid reflection (think,pair,share).
2. Pupils write their reflection on a sticky note.
3. Pupils do Gallery Walk to read the sticky notes on reflection.
4. Exit cards.

2. Match each sentence with one use of the present

ACTIVITIES : i)PRE-LESSON 1. Write a few sentences on the board and ask pupils to
identify the verb used

ii) Lesson Development 1. Explain that stative verbs are verbs that are only used in the
present simple and provide examples for each.
2. Discuss the difference in meaning when using different
tense
POST LESSON 1. Ask pupils to write two sentences using vocabulary
introduced in the unit.
2. One sentence using a stative verb and the other using an
action verb in the present continuous.
3. Allow peer assessment and give individuals feedback as you
move between pupils’ desks.
4. Remind pupils that they can find more information about
today’s lesson in the Grammar Focus section at the end of
the Student’s

1. Write as many words related to family
2. Read the text about the family history and match the
heading with the correct sections in the text

answers with their talk partner(s) before collecting their
responses

2. List as many words related to their family.
3. Write on a piece of paper
POST LESSON 1. Ask pupils to review their learning in this lesson by getting
them to close their textbooks and then to recall with their
talk partner(s) the exam tips they read on p. 7 (‘Exam Close-
Up’).
2. When pupils are ready, collect and share ideas as a whole
class.
3. Write ideas on the board, checking that all five tips have
been included.
